NCAA Bowl Games 2024: Fenway Bowl Streaming Options to Watch Cheaper Without Cable

Last Updated:

This year, there are a few games being added to Bowl Season. One of them is the Wasabi Fenway Bowl, which airs on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at (EST). It pits the No. 24 SMU against the Boston College. And you can watch it live without cable.

In a hurry? The Fenway Bowl will air on ESPN, which is available in the base plan of all these streaming services:

If you can’t watch your favorite sports because of your location, get ExpressVPN to access the content you deserve.

In a hurry? Unfortunately, we don’t know a streaming service in that offers this TV channel/sport. But if you’ve already paid for the right service, and just can’t watch because of your location, there is an easy way to get the sports, movies, and TV you deserve. You need a VPN, like one of the following.

ExpressVPN

1. ExpressVPN: Established VPN provider in 105 countries. Smart DNS, a built-in ad-blocker, and unlimited bandwidth. Try it with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Private Internet Access

3. Private Internet Access: The only no-logs VPN with a location for every US state. Get 82% off + 2 months free.

If you’re overwhelmed and not sure where to begin, you’ll find all the answers in our full VPN guide.

The days when you needed cable to watch “cable” channels are gone. First, this was the case with satellite TV, but it didn’t much matter since these services acted pretty much the same as cable companies. But for about a decade now, you can stream these channels for reasonable prices and without any long-term contracts.

Since the Fenway Bowl airs on ESPN, there are a lot of streaming services to choose from. We’ll discuss all your options below.

Fenway Bowl: Online Without Cable

Since the Fenway Bowl is on ESPN, you can’t watch it for free. (Well, you can watch it for free — but not long-term.) But because ESPN is such a popular channel, you have a number of options to stream it. Fubo and Sling TV are our top two options depending upon exactly what you are looking for.

Streaming is an alternative to cable and satellite. You get roughly the same access to channels. The cost is the same or cheaper. You get more features (like DVR included). And best of all: no long-term contracts, which are standard with cable/satellite — if you want to get any kind of reasonable price. (Generally, cable is the same price as streaming — but only if you sign up for 2 years!)

SMU Mustangs vs Boston College Eagles

The 2023 Fenway Bowl features the SMU Mustangs of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the Boston College Eagles of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The Mustangs have had an outstanding season with a record of 11-2 (8-0 in-conference) to win the AAC including the Championship game against Tulane 26-14.

The Eagles improved over last year with a record of 6-6 (3-5 in-conference) — pretty typical of their performance over the last decade.

SMU is expected to dominate the Eagles but it should still be a good game.

SMU Mustangs Personnel

Rhett Lashlee has been head coach of the Mustangs for the last two seasons with a total record of 18-8 and 13-3 in-conference. With him are offensive coordinator Casey Woods and defensive coordinator Scott Symons.

The Mustangs’ offense has been led by Elijah Jones, but he broke his leg in November so Freshman Kevin Jennings will take over as quarterback at the Fenway Bowl. With him are running back Jaylan Knighton, wide receivers Jake Bailey, Moochie Dixon, Romello Brinson, and Jordan Hudson, and tight end RJ Maryland.

The defense features linebackers Kobe Wilson, Ahmad Walker, and Alexander Kilgore, defensive backs Charles Woods, Jonathan McGill, Cale Sanders Jr, Chris Megginson, Isaiah Nwokobia, and Ahmaad Moses, and linemen Elijah Chatman, Kori Roberson Jr, Elijah Roberts, Isaiah Smith, Nelson Paul, and Cameron Robertson.

Boston College Eagles Personnel

Head coach Jeff Hafley is in his fourth season with Boston College. With him are offensive coordinator Steve Shimko and defensive coordinators Aazaar Abdul-Rahim and Sean Duggan.

Quarterback Thomas Castellanos leads the Eagles’ offensive with running back Kye Robichaux, wide receivers Lewis Bond, Joseph Griffin Jr, and Dino Tomlin, and tight end Jeremiah Franklin.

The Eagles defense features linebackers Vinny DePalma and Kam Arnold, defensive backs Jalen Cheek, Cole Batson, and John Pupel (Elijah Jones is injured), and linemen Donovan Ezeiruaku, Cam Horsley, George Rooks, Khris Banks, Neto Okpala, and Shitta Sillah.

Wrapping Up

It’s easy to watch Fenway Bowl — and almost all the other bowl games — without cable. Just choose any of the streaming services we’ve discussed above and you will be all set.

Our top choice is Fubo but if you are on a budget, you can’t go wrong with Sling TV.

Who won the Fenway Bowl last year?

This will be not only the first ever Fenway Bowl, but also the first Division I Bowl Game played in New England. Fenway Park is one of the most recognizable and popular stadiums in North America, and it is only fitting to see two bitter rivalries clash there.
