Bears at Patriots
This matchup features teams heading in different directions as the Bears followed a 2-1 start to its season with three straight losses while the Patriots opened their slate of games with a 1-3 mark before putting together a pair of wins to reach the .500 mark.
The Bears have been especially let down by their passing game this season, which is 32nd and last in the league at 123 yards per contest. At the same time, their running game is amongst the league’s best, second at 171 yards per game. It appears that quarterback Justin Fields is experiencing a sophomore slump. Meanwhile, Chicago’s last outing, a 12-7 loss to Washington, three times featured the Bears reaching the Commanders’ 5-yard-line and not scoring.
New England has been helped by a draft class. Initially, most prognosticators consider it to be a poor group. But it has been impressive thus far this season.
Most notably, the Patriots’ 38-15 win over Cleveland in their last outing featured particularly effective performances by quarterback Bailey Zappe, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, guard Cole Strange, and defensive backs Jack Jones and Marcus Jones, all Patriots draftees in April.
