The St Louis BattleHawks were 3-2 in the last (2020) season before the COVID-19 pandemic shut the XFL down. But they are back in the eight-team league with a three-year deal to play home games at the Dome at America’s Center (the old Rams stadium when they were in Missouri). With this season comes head coach Anthony Becht.
The 2023 roster features some impressive talent like former NFL quarterback AJ McCarron (Bengals, Raiders, and Texans) and Ryan Willis (Chicago Bears). It also features strong players from the NCAA.
The BattleHawks’ lineup contains a stronger collection of talent than one might predict for a new spring league.
The offense features veteran running back Brian Hill; wide receivers Marcell Ateman, Hakeem Butler, Donteea Dye, Steven Mitchell, and Darrius Shepherd; tight ends Charlie Taumoepeau and Jordan Thomas; and linemen Vadal Alexander and Jaryd Jones-Smith.
The defense features linebackers Travis Feeney and Willie Harvey; safeties Ben DeLuca and Nate Meadors and cornerback Quenton Meeks; and on the line Freedom Akinmoladun, LaCale London, Shakir Soto, and Tani Tupou.
