I rely on Fox Sports as one of the leading sports broadcasters, and specifically turn to Fox Soccer Plus for international soccer and rugby coverage. Let me explain how to access this service without a cable TV subscription.
In a hurry? Fox Soccer Plus is only available from a couple of streaming services. We recommend getting FuboTV, which gives you 110+ sports-heavy channels for $79.99/month. And the International Sports Plus add-on for $6.99/mo gives you Fox Soccer Plus, TyC Sports, GolTV, Next Level Sports, and more. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.
Table Of Contents
Despite its name, Fox Soccer Plus provides viewers with a variety of non-soccer sporting events as well. It may be just what you are looking for, depending on your interests.
Much of its content is spillover from Fox, Fox Sports 1 (FS1), and Fox Sports 2 (FS2). But it does focus on competitions that are of significant interest to some, such as Serie B, National Rugby League, and Australian Football League.
You can stream Fox Soccer Plus through FuboTV ($76.98/mo) and YouTube TV ($75.98/mo).
Fox Soccer Plus Details
From its name, Fox Soccer Plus sounds like an overflow channel, and there is a reason for that. It used to be. But it became a standalone network after Fox Soccer, formerly named Fox Soccer Channel, was taken off the air in 2013 after having been in existence for 16 years. Fox losing the rights to show Premier League matches is believed to be the main impetus for the network making that move.
Meanwhile, the channel that remains from that partnership was launched in 2005 as a separate entity under different ownership: Setanta Sports. Five years later, Fox purchased it and immediately converted it into an overflow channel for Fox Soccer Channel.
Fox Soccer Plus used to broadcast a significant amount of content that garnered tremendous ratings for itself, such as the Premier League, Ligue 1, Serie A, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Six Nations, Rugby World Cup, and Premiership Rugby. But the rights to broadcast all of those competitions have since gone elsewhere.
Sports Covered
Fox Soccer Plus has the rights to Serie B and the Canadian Premier League while it also shows soccer matches from other competitions that Fox owns the rights to but are not being shown on Fox, FS1, or FS2. These include the CONCACAF Champions League, CONCACAF Gold Cup Prelims, FIFA Club World Cup, Liga MX, and Copa do Brasil. It also shows a significant selection of archived broadcasts from those and other competitions, such as MLS.
Also, in late 2021, Fox secured the rights to broadcast the Euros, FIFA World Cup qualifiers played by European teams, UEFA Nations League, and friendly matches hosted by European countries. So a selection of those games is expected to be shown on Fox Soccer Plus as well.
With that said, this channel is much more varied in its programming than its name would indicate as it does not focus predominantly on soccer. As a result, it may make more sense to think of this as a channel more befitting the name of Fox Sports 3 than Fox Soccer Plus.
The Australian Football League is one of the premier non-soccer brands that Fox Soccer Plus has the rights to. Australian rules football is a sport that was introduced to Americans during ESPN’s early years, when it did not have the rights to broadcast many events. That interest has remained significant enough ever since for Fox to procure those rights in the 2010s. Plus, of course, transplanted Aussies in the United States follow the AFL here.
Rugby is another sport that is often shown on Fox Soccer Plus. It features domestic coverage of as numerous Major League Rugby matches. And that is not the extent of its rugby coverage as it also shows Australia’s and New Zealand’s National Rugby League and various international matches. Rugby-related shows are on at times as well, such as Inside the Scrum.
Fox Soccer Plus does also branch out to other sports from time to time, such as its broadcasting of the Hooked on Cricket show.
This expansion into additional non-soccer sports is reminiscent of Fox Soccer’s earlier years when that network also showed a significant amount of Australian rules football and rugby in addition to its soccer offerings.
Stream Fox Soccer Plus
Cord-cutters looking for streaming access to Fox Soccer Plus have a couple of options available to them. However, do note that you will need to purchase an add-on plan in order to get it from either of these providers.
FuboTV
FuboTV’s Pro plan costs $79.99/month and provides you with 110+ channel including soccer-heavy channels from beIN Sports and TUDN. It also features FS1, FS2, ESPN, ESPN2, and CBS Sports Network. To get Fox Soccer Plus, you will need to get its International Sports Plus add-on for an extra $6.99/mo. This add-on also gets you Fox Deportes, ESPN Deports, and GolTV.
All Fubo plans come with at least unlimited cloud DVR and the ability to stream on up to 10 devices. See our FuboTV review for details.
YouTube TV
YouTube TV costs $72.99/month to those looking for its base plan. Subscribers wanting to garner access to Fox Soccer Plus through this service will need to get its Sports Plus add-on as well, which costs an additional $10.99/mo. Sports-related channels in its base plan include FS1, FS2, ESPN, and ESPN2 while the Sports Plus add-on grants you access to channels such as beIN Sports and GOL TV.
Fox Sports App and TV Everywhere
Once you have purchased access to Fox Soccer Plus through FuboTV or YouTube TV or, if you decide to go the corded route, through a cable or satellite subscription, you can use the Fox Sports app to watch this channel. This is due to it being a TV Everywhere app and enjoying the flexibility of that.

Fox Soccer Plus Alternatives
Perhaps, after reading this far, you have realized that getting Fox Soccer Plus through FuboTV, YouTube TV, or a cable or satellite service is not for you. Thankfully, there are some other options for streaming leagues that it shows, plus similar channels that carry related but not identical content.
Fox, FS1, and FS2
Many of the competitions featured on Fox Soccer Plus are shown on Fox, FS1, and FS2 as well. For example, a Euro 2024 qualifying matchday could have four different contests simultaneously featured on Fox, FS1, FS2, and Fox Soccer Plus.
However, do keep in mind that comprehensive coverage of the leagues that Fox Soccer Plus carries is focused on that channel. Plus, even matches as significant as the AFL Grand Final have been on Fox Soccer Plus in the past although the 2021 edition of Australia’s greatest sporting event did air on FS2.
Watch AFL and Watch NRL
If you are solely interested in the AFL or NRL or both, you can skip Fox Soccer Plus entirely and simply subscribe to one or both of Watch AFL and Watch NRL, which are available throughout the world with the exception of those located in Oceania. Both plans cost $39AUD/mo, which is around $28/mo.
Watch AFL and Watch NRL offer streaming access to every match in those respective leagues with no blackouts.
The Rugby Network
Those interested in domestic rugby can access a significant percentage of the games played in Major League Rugby for free through The Rugby Network. The only ones blacked out in the US are the ones shown on a Fox channel. Rugby fans in Canada can watch all streamed games minus Toronto Arrows contests. Everybody else in the world will not experience any blackouts.
ESPN+
ESPN+ ($10.99/month) provides a significant amount of soccer content, including La Liga, Bundesliga, and MLS, while its overall sports offerings are substantial and include MLB, NFL, NHL, and NCAA games, the latter in a wide variety of sports.
You can get ESPN+ and Disney+ with Hulu + Live TV for $76.99/month, which comes with 85+ live channels including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FS1, FS2, and CBS Sports Network.
Paramount+
Paramount+ ($7.99/month) offers access to the UEFA Champions League, World Cup qualifiers played in the CONCACAF region, including some US matches, Serie A, and Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A. (See our Sling TV guide and top teams guide for Portuguese coverage.)
Its non-soccer content includes NFL games and NCAA sports events also broadcast on CBS, including March Madness contests.
Peacock Premium
The soccer content of Peacock Premium ($7.99/month) is highlighted by its Premier League coverage while it also offers access to the Olympics, Sunday Night Football, and other NFL games that are shown on NBC.
Wrapping Up
If you have decided that Fox Soccer Plus is for you and are looking to secure access to it through cordless means, we recommend FuboTV. If you are solely interested in the AFL or NRL, you should consider Watch AFL or Watch NRL.
FAQ
Does DIRECTV STREAM offer Fox Soccer Plus?
DIRECTV STREAM ($79.99/month) does not offer access to Fox Soccer Plus. This is strange as it not only provides access to Fox, FS1, and FS2 but its satellite division does offer Fox Soccer Plus. It does, however, offer a comprehensive collection of sports-oriented channels and you should be able to get access to the events you want.
