Oklahoma State Cowboys Channels

Which channels are broadcasting Oklahoma State football games? TV channels for NCAA football are released slowly over the course of the season. But we do have a good idea of where the games will be broadcast.

The focus is on the Big 12 television contracts, which result in all conference games and non-conference home contests being shown on Fox, FS1, ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 or exclusively streamed on ESPN+. Also, keep in mind that ESPN is a good channel to have access to as far as the postseason goes as all College Football Playoff matchups and most bowl games are shown there.

Non-conference matchups that are not played in Stillwater could be shown on other channels. However, the team’s only game of 2024 that fits that description, an away matchup with Tulsa on September 14, will be broadcast on one of the aforementioned networks: ESPN2.

Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, and Hulu + Live TV are all great ones as each of those provide access to Fox, FS1, ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 with their base packages. A similar option that you can also consider is YouTube TV.

YouTube TV is a great service that is similar to Hulu Live, but without ESPN+. It’s base plan is $72.99/mo.

Sling TV

Sling TV is a possibility as well as its Orange + Blue plan features ESPN, ESPN2, and FS1. However, it is not as simple to get local broadcasting affiliates through this streaming service as ABC and Fox outlets are only available in select markets, and none of those are located in Oklahoma. However, Sling in combination with an antenna, the latter for viewing ABC- and Fox-broadcast games, is doable.

ESPN+

If you want to make sure to catch every Cowboys game, you need to also ensure that you have ESPN+ as it streamed two OSU games in 2023 and will do the same in 2024 at least once as the season-opening tilt against South Dakota State has been slated for coverage there.

You can watch ESPN+ programming through Hulu Live.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Football

Oklahoma State has been playing football games since 1901, and the Cowboys have one national title to their name, claimed in 1945, and 11 conference championships, two of those Big Eight/12 trophies. One of the latter pair was shared in 1976 while OSU claimed the conference title outright in 2011.

The Cowboys have played at a high level ever since head coach Mike Gundy’s fourth season as his 2008 squad went 9-4, which kick-started an especially impressive four-year stretch from 2008-11 that resulted in Oklahoma State going 41-11.

The program has recorded eight double-digit win seasons since 2010, most recently in 2021 (12-2) and 2023 (10-4). Conversely, the only times the Cowboys reached that win total prior to Gundy’s arrival occurred in 1984, 1987, and 1988 (all 10-2), the latter two of which featured starting running backs Thurman Thomas (1987) and Barry Sanders (1988).

Players

Much of OSU’s squad in 2023 returns for another year of wearing the orange and black on fall Saturdays, and the 2024 Cowboys are expected to be another top-25 team with the potential for greater glory.

Leading the way will be 2023 Doak Walker Award-winning running back Ollie Gordon II, who will be in Stillwater for his junior season. He also earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year accolades last year, and some are saying that he may even have a Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2024.

Handing him the ball is expected to be senior quarterback Alan Bowman, who helped lead an impressive offense last year. He and Gordon will be lining up behind an especially experienced offensive line as it is full of seniors. Bowman also has talented seniors to throw to in wide receivers Rashod Owens and Brennan Presley.

Oklahoma State’s defense is experienced as well with 10 returning starters, but it likely needs to take a significant leap forward in order for the Cowboys to have a historic season as OSU was 86th nationally in scoring defense in 2023, allowing 28.6 points per game.

Amongst the leaders on the defensive side of the ball are junior linebacker Nick Martin and safeties Trey Rucker, a senior, and Kendal Daniels, a junior.

One key loss for the Cowboys is at kicker as Alex Hale’s time in Stillwater has come to an end. Junior Logan Ward is expected to replace him.

No Texas or Oklahoma

Notably, Oklahoma State’s 2024 schedule will not include any games with Texas or Oklahoma, the latter an especially significant development as the Bedlam Series was last not held in 1909, just five years after the rivals’ initial meeting. Both of those former opponents are now in the SEC.

The slate starts with an August 31 home game versus FCS champion South Dakota State and ends with an away contest versus Deion Sanders-led Colorado on November 29. If the Cowboys play in the Big 12 championship game, they will then head to Arlington, Texas, for that December 7 contest.

Wrapping Up

Are you interested in seeing Oklahoma State navigate the new-look Big 12, which includes the additions of 2024 Cowboy opponents Utah, Arizona State, and Colorado, and watching the country’s best running back week in and week out as well as the Cowboys as a team make a push for a College Football Playoff spot?

If yes to all of those, make sure that you can watch OSU’s games without cable. Although you do have several options, Hulu Live may be the best one as you can get all of the channels that will be broadcasting Oklahoma State contests as well as ESPN+, a streamer for at least one, embedded in the service.
