Washington Huskies Channels

The Washington Huskies football program has been amongst the country’s elite for more than a century, and the team had one of its best seasons in school history in 2023. Now, the Northwest school is making its way to the Big Ten as the college football world continues to be shaken up geographically.

What does all of that mean as far as watching UW games in “The Greatest Setting in College Football” and at various stadiums throughout the Midwest and elsewhere? If you were already a fan of the Huskies prior to 2024, you are going to need to ensure that you have access to a different mix of channels as the move from the Pac-12 also means new television contracts.

Most notably, numerous Washington games will be shown on the Big Ten Network, including the team’s first two of its 2024 campaign. Conversely, the Pac-12 Network is no more as of June 28, 2024, after the league was left with only two schools (Oregon State and Washington State) and is a conference in limbo that may never be resurrected. Even if it is, the UW will not be a part of it.

Streaming the Washington Huskies

To ensure that you can stream all Washington Huskies games, you need to secure access to all of the channels that may broadcast Big Ten games in 2024 and beyond. These include CBS, NBC, Fox, FS1, and the Big Ten Network. Also, Peacock will exclusively stream some Big Ten games. In fact, in 2024, that streaming service will be the only place where you can watch the Apple Cup, the game with Washington State.

In addition, access to ESPN is necessary to watch any College Football Playoff games that the Huskies may be a part of. Also, almost all bowl games are shown on ESPN.

Full Cable Replacement Services

Fubo, Hulu Live, DIRECTV STREAM, and YouTube TV are all options that will get you sat in front your own device watching the Huskies take on the rest of the Big Ten as all carry the aforementioned channels that will or may show UW games.

  • Fubo: The Big Ten Network and all the local network affiliates are included in the base Fubo plan starting at $79.99/mo. In total, you get 150+ channels, unlimited cloud DVR storage, and streaming on up to 10 devices at a time (great for large households). (Fubo review)
  • Hulu + Live TV: Get BTN, ESPN, all the local channels in addition to ESPN+ as well as Disney. You get this all for just $76.99/mo. (Hulu Live review)
  • DIRECTV STREAM: The Big Ten Network and all the other channels you need are included in the Choice Package, which provides 125+ channels including access to the best RSN selection in the industry. It costs $108.99/mo. (DIRECTV STREAM review)
  • YouTube TV: Includes all the channels you need for $72.99/mo. (YouTube TV review)

Other Services

Sling TV, however, is a little more complicated. It only offers Fox and NBC in select markets although Seattle is one of those for Fox, and it does not provide access to CBS; Paramount+ or an antenna would be required for that.

Otherwise, you need the Orange + Blue plan with the Sports Extra add-on for the remaining channels or just the Blue plan with that same add-on if you want to skip ESPN or delay getting that channel until December for any playoff or bowl games that the Huskies may be a part of.

And, of course, if you want to watch the Huskies host Washington State on Saturday, September 14th, you will need Peacock.

Washington Huskies Football

The Washington Huskies have had quite a history ever since they played their first game in the 1800s. Those annals include a pair of national championships in 1991 and 1960 and 18 conference titles while its water-adjacent 70,138-seat Husky Stadium is described as one of the country’s most beautiful.

Head Coach

Despite coming off of one of its best seasons ever, playing in the national title game, 2024 is expected to be a drop from those heights for the UW. That is primarily because head coach Kalen DeBoer left the school after just two years in Seattle as the call to lead Alabama’s program was too strong to resist. He has been replaced by Jedd Fisch, who led former Pac-12 school Arizona the past three seasons.

Players

Player personnel has changed quite a bit too. In fact, only two regular starters return from 2023: junior cornerback Elijah Jackson and senior linebacker Alphonzo Tuputala. However, despite a run at a national title in 2024 being unlikely, the team is still expected to be good, to potentially be a top-25 program, as players who are currently not all that known in Seattle will likely stand up and get noticed.

A few who may shine on the offensive side of the ball include sophomore wide receiver Denzel Boston, junior running back Jonah Coleman, sophomore center Landen Hatchett, and senior wide receiver Jeremiah Hunter. Junior cornerback Ephesians Prysock may also impress in the defensive backfield.

History

Washington’s 2023 campaign was one of its best as the Huskies started 14-0 with their only setback being a loss to Michigan in the national title game. The 14 wins was the most ever recorded by a UW team, and its .933 winning percentage was its best since the 1991 Huskies went 12-0.

However, the UW did have a rough stretch from 2003-2012 with 7-6 being its best record during that 10-year run before Chris Petersen helped build the program back to prominence during his tenure from 2014-19, going 55-26, including 32-9 from 2016-18. After a pair of forgettable seasons in 2020 and 2021, Kalen DeBoer arrived, and the Huskies went 25-3 under him before he left for the Crimson Tide.

2024 Washington Huskies Football Schedule

The team’s schedule has some interesting games on it, including an Apple Cup that takes place in the third week. Later, on October 5, is a rematch of last year’s national championship game, versus Michigan at Husky Stadium. The regular season closes with an away rivalry game on Thanksgiving weekend versus the Oregon Ducks.

Wrapping Up

Although few are expecting Washington to make another national championship game run in 2024, this team should be entertaining to watch, plus it will be intriguing to see how the UW and the other West Coast teams do in their first year in the Big Ten and dealing with all of those long road trips.

So, if you want to watch the Huskies hit the gridiron in 2024, make sure to get the streaming services that will allow you to. (At least two will be necessary with at least one game being shown on Peacock.)

Fubo is our top choice for Huskies fans. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.

FAQs

Why did the Huskies leave the Pac-12?

The assumed answer to this question is money. Why else would Washington, Oregon, UCLA, and USC willingly add so many cross-country road trips to their schedules in all of their sports, something that the UW has estimated will cost it $10 million a year? Clearly, the expected increase in revenue is significant. That said, the school also expects to enjoy a more stable environment in the Big Ten.
