Every Streaming Option for All the FanDuel Sports Network Channels

Even with all of its management problems, I have always been a big fan of FanDuel Sports Network (previously Bally Sports Network). It is a collection of 16 regional sports networks (RSNs). They are essential for local MLB, NBA, and NHL fans. It can be confusing because of the number of channels but just sign up for a service that offers the network and you will automatically get the channels you are qualified for. I explain all the details below.

In a hurry? Only two live TV streaming services offer the FanDuel Sports channels, but they are great ones:

  • Fubo: Get all the FanDuel Sports channels in your area along with 150+ channels starting at $91.98/month after a free trial.
  • DIRECTV STREAM: Although you get just 125+ channels they are all the ones you expect for only $108.99/month after a 5-day free trial.

Streaming FanDuel Sports Channels

The FanDuel Sports Network channels are available from just two live TV streaming services. There is also a direct-to-customer streaming service but you may want to avoid it — especially if you are interested in MLB (see below).

FanDuel Sports Network: The Direct-to-Consumer Service

Note: the FanDuel Sports Network streaming service has secured rights for the games of all covered NBA and NHL teams. But it has not secured rights to most MLB team games. Make sure that your teams will be available before signing up.

There are definitely situations where FanDuel Sports Network is worth subscribing to. The best subscriber for it is one in an area that only offers the FanDuel Sports channels and no other RSNs. But even there, it gives subscribers more choices and not any kind of savings. At its current price, it isn’t a great deal.

The service costs $19.99/month or $189.99/year. But if you qualify for a second FanDuel Sports channel, you can add it for a total cost of $25.99/month.

Streaming Extras

All the services that offer FanDuel Sports provide other streaming additions. They all allow you to stream on most devices in use today. These include the stick-based devices Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku. Android TV-based smart TVs are also supported as are iOS and Android mobile devices. Fubo and FanDuel also support the Xbox One.

DIRECTV STREAM allows you to stream simultaneously on unlimited devices. Fubo allows up to 10 and FanDuel Sports allows 2.

Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM provide unlimited cloud DVR storage. FanDuel does not include a DVR.

How RSNs Like FanDuel Sports Network Work

Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) are an odd relic of the history of sports and TV. They are local channels that air most of the games of Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), and National Hockey League (NHL).

If you want to watch a lot of games played by your local professional sports teams, you need your local RSNs. And in many areas, that means FanDuel Sports Network.

For example, if you live in Oklahoma City, the only way to watch all the Thunder games is to sign-up with FanDuel Sports Oklahoma. You can get a subscription to NBA League Pass, but the Thunder games will be blacked out for you. That’s also generally true of games that air on national channels.

If this seems crazy, that’s because it is. Just the same, RSNs provide great value to local sports fans. And it isn’t just professional sports. They also show local college and even high school games.

Major Sports Teams on FanDuel Sports Channels

There are 16 FanDuel Sports Channels. The vast majority provide access to the local MLB, NBA, and NHL teams. See our pages for the details about this.

Other Regional Sports Networks

FanDuel Sports provides the most RSNs but there are a number of other important RSNs.

NBC Sports RSNs

The other major provider is NBC Sports. They offer the following:

  • NBC Sports Bay Area
    • San Francisco Giants (MLB)
    • Golden State Warriors (NBA)
    • San Jose Sharks (NHL)
  • NBC Sports Boston
    • Boston Celtics (NBA)
  • NBC Sports California
    • Oakland Athletics (MLB)
    • Sacramento Kings (NBA)
  • NBC Sports Chicago
    • Chicago White Sox (MLB)
    • Chicago Bulls (NBA)
    • Chicago Blackhawks (NHL)
  • NBC Sports Philadelphia
    • Philadelphia Phillies (MLB)
    • Philadelphia 76ers (NBA)
    • Philadelphia Flyers (NHL)

Additionally, NBC Sports Washington was sold to Monumental Sports & Entertainment. It is now:

  • Monumental Sports Network
    • Washington Wizards (NBA)
    • Washington Capitals (NHL)

All of these RSNs are offered in the base plans of Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV. DIRECTV STREAM offers all of these except for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Because of the non-RSN channels offered and the lower price ($82.99/month), I recommend Hulu + Live TV for those who want NBC Sports RSNs.

Beyond FanDuel and NBC: Other RSNs You Should Know

All of the following RSNs are available from DIRECTV STREAM and Fubo except for Spectrum SportsNet and Spectrum SportsNet LA, which are only available from DIRECTV STREAM, and Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, which is only available from Fubo. FanDuel Sports History and Availability

FanDuel Sports Network is a collection of 16 RSNs. They are owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group via Diamond Sports Group. The name was licensed first from Bally’s Corporation and later FanDuel. Diamond acquired these channels when the US DOJ forced Fox Sports to sell them as a condition of being acquired by Disney.

There were originally 21 Fox Sports RSNs. But Fox Sports Carolinas and Fox Sports Tennessee were both shutdown. Then, after it became Bally Sports, three other channels were shut down: Arizona, New Orleans, and San Diego.

FanDuel Sports Network Programming

The primary focus of each FanDuel Sports channel is to air live games of their affiliated MLB, NBA, and NHL teams. Along with these are pregame and postgame shows.

FanDuel Sports channels also provide coverage of other leagues. WNBA games, for example, often appear on FanDuel Sports. So are other professional sports like boxing, volleyball, and surfing.

College football also shows up on FanDuel Sports channels. And notable high school athletic events like the Texas High School Football Championships also appear on FanDuel Sports.

Sometimes, FanDuel Sports channels will offer content from Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Stadium and Tennis Channel. Finally, FanDuel Sports offers a collection of other sporting events like poker and fishing.

One thing that FanDuel Sports does not offer is NFL games. This is true of all RSNs. NFL games are broadcast on national channels. However, FanDuel Sports channels do offer some programming for NFL fans. They just don’t offer the games themselves.

Our Choice

I live in an area where NBC Sports provides my local teams’ games. But most fans find themselves in an area covered by one or more of the FanDuel Sports channels. If you want to watch the local MLB, NBA, NHL, and (to a lesser extent) WNBA teams, you need to get access.

Fubo is my top choice for FanDuel Sports. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.

FAQs

Will Diamond Sports Group’s bankruptcy affect broadcasts?

The owner of the FanDuel Sports channels, Diamond Sports Group, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 14, 2023. Their stated intent is to restructure and emerge as a “stronger company.” Whether that happens or not, the company currently has “$425 million of cash on hand to fund its business and restructuring.” So nothing should change for FanDuel Sports viewers for at least the current season — and potentially indefinitely.

Does FanDuel Sports show MLS games?

Through 2022, what are now the FanDuel Sports channels were the local broadcasters for many MLS teams. That all changed in 2023, when Major League Soccer took back control of its broadcasting rights. Now you can watch all the teams with MLS Season Pass. It costs $14.99/mo and has no blackout restrictions. Fans will probably want to get the yearly plan for $99.99.
