Carolina Panthers Week 2

There really isn’t a whole lot to say about how the Panthers played in a 47-10 loss to New Orleans. Their performance may actually have been worse than what the final score indicated.

Bryce Young picked up where he left off last season throwing for 160 yards and two interceptions. However, most of those yards came in garbage time in the second half, and he would also add a three-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.

Despite his poor showing, it isn’t Young’s fault that the defense gave up 30 points in the first half alone. The silver lining is that it’s just the first game of the season and there is time to recover from this performance.

Currently, in Week 2, the Carolina Panthers have a record of 0-1.

Local Panther fans can watch all Sunday afternoon games on local network affiliates. However, fans out-of-market are not as lucky and must depend upon whatever games are judged to be most appropriate for their region. Our NFL Out-of-Market guide provides options for such fans.

The standard solution is simply to get NFL Sunday Ticket, which is available through YouTube and YouTube TV. A more cost-efficient option is to use a VPN along with a streaming service to watch out-of-market NFL games.

About the Carolina Panthers and Their 2024-25 Season Roundup

The Carolina Panthers are a younger team, having played their first season in 1995. The team is based in Charlotte, North Carolina where they play their home games at Bank of America Stadium. Over the years, they have had some ups and downs. While they have yet to win a Super Bowl, they have been close on a number of occasions in the playoffs.

The highlight of the Panthers’ last season was probably watching owner David Tepper pour a drink on fans during a game. Alternatively, it may have been when the team beat the Falcons 9-7 in front of just a few hundred fans thanks to a massive storm near Bank of America Stadium.

The Panthers enter this season in the running for the worst-run franchise in the NFL. Quarterback Bryce Young will need to take a huge step forward if the team hopes to get back to respectability. Carolina bolstered its wide receiver core by drafting Xavier Legette with the 32nd pick in the draft. Although the team had the worst record in the NFL, the top pick went to Chicago thanks to the trade made to acquire Bryce Young last year.

Carolina has a new head coach after hiring Dave Canales from Tampa Bay. Brad Idzik is the new offensive coordinator and also served in Tampa Bay. Finally, Ejiro Evero is the team’s defensive coordinator after spending time in Denver in the same role.

I wanna see great, smart plays in situations—making great decisions in third-down situations, end-of-half two-minutes, end-of-game two-minutes, those types of things.

Although large jumps are possible from season to season, it’s likely that Carolina will struggle again as the team lacks top talent on both sides of the ball. The team lost arguably its best player when pass rusher Brian Burns was traded to the Giants for a second- and fifth-round pick. In 2023, Burns had eight sacks to go along with a fumble recovery and two passes defense.

Carolina has never won a Super Bowl and last played in the Super Bowl in 2015. That year, Peyton Manning and the Broncos would defeat the Cam Newton-led Panthers in what would be Manning’s final season.

Cam Newton and Steve Smith are among the team’s best players since 2010. Other legendary Panthers include linebacker Sam Mills and quarterback Kerry Collins, who was the team’s first-ever draft pick.
