You can watch all Red Sox games, both locally and across the US, without needing a long-term cable contract. I provide all the details below.
In a hurry? When it comes to MLB, streaming is a bit complicated. But these services allow you to watch almost all Red Sox games. The first two provide NESN (home of the Red Sox) to local fans and the last provides the same games to out-of-market fans.
- Fubo: Includes NESN and most of the other channels you might need to watch the Red Sox. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.
- DIRECTV STREAM: Get 125+ channels including NESN. A 5-day free trial is now available for DIRECTV STREAM.
- MLB.TV: Red Sox fans outside the local media market can stream almost every game.
The Boston Red Sox play their home games at Fenway Park. They have long been one of Major League Baseball’s premier franchises, and its rivalry with the New York Yankees is amongst the sport’s most intense. The pride of New England has also won a lot of hardware over the past several years, claiming World Series titles in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018.

Boston Red Sox Channels
The vast majority of Red Sox games are shown on NESN for in-market fans and MLB.TV for out-of-market fans.
You can also expect to see the Boston Red Sox feature regularly on national broadcasts. During the 2024 season, the Red Sox were broadcast nationally:
Channel | Games |
ESPN | 6 |
FOX | 4 |
FS1 | 2 |
MLB Network | 41 |
TBS | 3 |
The games on ESPN and FOX are exclusive and so won’t air on NESN or MLB.TV. But Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM both include those channels.
Some games will appear on streaming services. There were 8 games on ESPN+ but they were shown on regular channels as well. There were also 4 games that streamed exclusively on Apple TV+.
How to Stream Red Sox Games
You can stream every Red Sox game. You will need more than one streaming service to do so, however. These services offer the vast majority of games:
Service | Price | Channels | DVR (hrs) | Screens |
$94.98 | 150+ | unlimited | 10
$114.99 | 125+ | unlimited | unlimited
$29.99 | N/A | N/A‡ | 4 |
Streaming Features
All these streaming services provide apps for most of the devices currently in use: Amazon Fire TV, Android mobile devices, Android TV-based smart TVs, Apple TV, Chromecast, iOS mobile devices, Roku, Samsung smart TVs, and web browsers. Other devices like the Xbox are supported by Fubo and MLB.TV.
You can stream on multiple devices at the same time, which is great for large households. The limit is 4 for MLB.TV and unlimited for DIRECTV STREAM.
You get a cloud DVR with unlimited storage with both Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM. There is no DVR with MLB.TV but it provides the same functionality.
Everything You Need to Know About the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox had supposedly suffered from the Curse of the Bambino for much of its history. Babe Ruth had helped Boston to World Series titles in 1915, 1916, and 1918, the club’s third, fourth, and fifth.
But he was then traded to the Yankees, where he experienced mass success. Meanwhile, the Red Sox would not win another World Series title until 86 years had passed since the last one in 1918.
Between 1918 and 2004, the team played in the World Series four times, in 1946, 1967, 1975, and 1986. All of them resulted in seven-game series defeats.
However, the club has been one of the major’s best since finally securing that elusive championship in 2004. It now has nine World Series titles with almost half of them since 2004. However, the Red Sox did experience a temporary dip in form after 2018, going 84-78 in 2019 and 24-36 in 2020, missing the playoffs both times.
But the team improved in 2021, going 92-70 and claiming a wild card berth before embarking on an impressive postseason run. Boston dispatched the Yankees in the Wild Card game and took care of the AL East Division champion Tampa Bay Rays, 3-1, in the Division Series. They fell just short of the American League pennant when the Houston Astros defeated them, 4-2, in the AL Championship Series.
The Red Sox have been in poor form the last 3 seasons. In 2024, they improved slightly with an 81-81 record.
Our Choice
Fubo stands out as the top choice for watching Boston Red Sox games because it not only provides NESN for local broadcasts but also offers MLB.TV as an optional add-on, covering out-of-market games. The streaming quality is excellent, with smooth playback and no annoying interruptions, and the platform’s intuitive interface makes finding and watching games effortless. Its unlimited cloud DVR ensures you won’t miss a moment, and it works seamlessly on devices like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and smartphones.
