As painful as watching the Astros fall to the Tigers in the in last year’s Wild Card round, fans have to be happy with 8 straight playoff appearances, 4 World Series, and 2 World Series wins. Below I have all the details for watching the Astros.
In a hurry? Astros fans can stream almost every game with one of the following services.
- Fubo: Get 150+ channels including Space City Home Network. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.
- DIRECTV STREAM: Although more expensive than Fubo, it includes the Turner channels, which may be necessary to watch the playoffs. A 5-day free trial is now available for DIRECTV STREAM.
- MLB.TV: Fans outside the Astros media market can watch almost all games with this service.
Back in 1962, the Houston Astros entered the scene as an NL expansion team. Of course, back then they were known as the Colt .45s. Three years later, the team took on the name the Astros, as a reflection of Houston’s history with the space program.
In 2017, the team won its first World Series and has had great success since.
Houston Astros Channels
The vast majority of the Houston Astros regular season games air on Space City Home Network for fans in the Astros broadcast area. Those outside can watch games with MLB.TV.
Many games also air on national channels:
- ESPN
- Fox (also airs World Series)
- FS1
- MLB Network
- TBS
Some games are available from streaming services:
Live Stream the Houston Astros
The Astros appear on many channels but the vast majority of them appear on Space City Home Network for local fans and MLB.TV for others:
Service | Price | Channels | DVR (hrs) | Screens |
$94.98 | 150+ | unlimited | 10
$114.99 | 125+ | unlimited | unlimited
$29.99 | N/A | N/A‡ | 4 |
A digital antenna can be used to watch all the games on FOX for free. Last year, the Astros were featured four times on FOX. Should they make it to the World Series (never out of the question for this team), those too will air on FOX.
Streaming Features
You can stream on multiple devices at once with all these services (see the table). The live TV streaming services also include an unlimited cloud DVR. Although MLB.TV does not offer a DVR, you will get all the same abilities that one provides.
All these services provide apps for the most popular devices in use today: Amazon Fire TV, Android Mobile, Android TV smart TVs, Apple TV, Chromecast, iOS, Roku, Samsung TVs, and web browsers. Fubo and MLB.TV support other gaming devices and smart TVs.
About the Houston Astros
The Houston Astros have been playing in Major League Baseball since 1962, initially as a National League club before moving to the American League in 2013, becoming the second of two MLB teams to have played in both leagues. (Milwaukee is the other.)
In the 60 years since that inaugural season, the Astros have claimed two World Series titles, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2017 World Series and the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022.
The Texas-based team first made the playoffs in 1980, falling just shy of the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2, in the NLCS. Another NLCS defeat followed in 1986 to the New York Mets, 4-2.
Later, six playoff appearances occurred in the nine years from 1997 to 2005. This culminated in the franchise’s first World Series appearance, a four-game sweep for the Chicago White Sox in 2005.
More recently, Houston has not only made the playoffs every season from 2017 through 2023 but has also played in the ALCS in each of those seasons, winning it three times. Last year was their worst when they were eliminated in the Wild Card round.
Our Choice
If you’re an Astros fan, Fubo’s the way to go. It’s got the Space City Home Network in its channel lineup, so catching every local game is easy. The streaming is smooth, and the app’s super simple to use – no digging around to find what you need. It works on pretty much any device, so you’re covered whether you’re on your TV, phone, or tablet. If you’re outside the local area, adding the MLB.TV package fills in the gaps for full coverage.

Which radio station airs the Houston Astros game?
If you are located in the Houston metropolitan area, you will want to tune into Sportstalk KBME 790 AM. Meanwhile, if you are situated elsewhere in Texas or Louisiana, you will likely be able to listen to the game on a different station. The eastern half of Texas is especially covered by stations on the Astros Broadcast Network. If you are looking for online access to the team’s radio broadcasts, subscribe to MLB Audio. Alternatively, you can check out the action on SiriusXM.
Can I stream Houston Astros games for free?
