This Week’s Wildcats Football Game

Arizona Wildcats Channels

The Arizona Wildcats are currently scheduled to appear on at least three channels (ESPN, Fox, and FS1) and one streaming service (ESPN+).

Their season opener against New Mexico on August 31st will air on ESPN while a game against Northern Arizona the following week will stream on ESPN+. ESPN and the Big 12 recently came to an agreement to stream Big 12 Now content through ESPN+, so it’s possible that Arizona will have additional games shown through the service.

Games against Kansas State on September 13th and Houston on November 15th will air on Fox and FS1 respectively. If they make it to the Big 12 title game, the game will air on ABC.

There are a number of live TV streaming services that will have you covered for watching Arizona football games. Irrespective of the service, the process stays the same: sign up for the service, install its app (or open its website on web browser) on your streaming device and search the channel airing the game.

Any popular streaming device is supported, including Android/iOS phones, Amazon Fire TV (Stick/Cube), Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, and smart TVs (Android-based and Samsung). Some streaming services also support other smart TV brands, gaming consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation, and VR headsets.

Our Choice

After trying out a range of streaming services, Fubo stood out as the best pick for NCAA football fans. It covers all the essentials – ESPN, FS1, CBS, NBC, and regional sports networks – so you’re always in the game. The streaming quality is smooth, the interface is easy to navigate, and the DVR feature makes it simple to catch up on matches you can’t watch live. While Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV were solid contenders, Fubo’s sports-first focus and extensive channel lineup gave it the edge. If college football is your thing and you want a reliable, sports-packed service, Fubo is a no-brainer.

Overview of Arizona Wildcats Football

Arizona’s athletics program started in 1899. Initially, Arizona played football as an independent before joining the Border Conference in 1930. It would remain there until 1962 when it became a part of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). In 1977, the school joined the Pac-12 where it would remain until 2023. Prior to 2011, the conference was known as the Pac-10.

In 1993, the Wildcats won their most recent conference title when they were co-champions with UCLA. They finished that season 6-2 in conference play and 10-2 overall after defeating Miami 29-0 in the Fiesta Bowl. Overall, the team has won or shared in six conference titles during the team’s existence. In 1935 and 1936, they won the Border Conference outright.

Arizona has played in 22 bowl games with its most recent postseason appearance coming at the 2023 Alamo Bowl. The Wildcats defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in that game 38-24. In addition, the school has made three appearances in the Fiesta Bowl as well as three appearances in the Sun Bowl.

In addition to their conference titles and bowl game victories, the team also won the 2014 Pac-12 South division. They would go on to lose 51-14 to Oregon in the 2014 conference title game. Arizona has never won a national title, and it hit its peak in the AP poll when it was ranked third in the nation for a week in 1983.

New Mexico and Arizona State (ASU) have long been considered Arizona’s top rivals. However, the rivalry with New Mexico has cooled in recent decades as the teams have only played sporadically after the 1990 season. Their rivalry against Arizona State is known as “The Duel in the Desert” with the winner of each year’s game receiving the Territorial Cup. The Wildcats also have a series of games scheduled with Northern Arizona through 2033.

The Wildcats have had several notable players come through their program in recent decades. Antoine Cason played for the school until 2007 and was chosen in the first round of the 2008 draft by the Los Angeles Chargers. Tedi Bruschi won multiple Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013.

In 2014, Scooby Wright III was named the country’s top linebacker as well as the top defensive player in the nation. Notable coaches include Rich Rodriguez, Jim Young, and Darrell Mudra. Young and Mudra were inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and 2000 respectively.

This year, the Wildcats begin a new era as a member of the Big 12 after being part of the mass exodus that left the Pac-12 with just two members. However, despite this, they are still expected to contend for a conference title.

The Wildcats play home games at Arizona Stadium on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson. They are currently under the leadership of head coach Brent Brennan.

Top players for this season include wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, quarterback Noah Fifita, cornerback Tacario Davis, offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea, and defensive back Owen Goss who came in through the transfer portal.
