The Sooners are joining the Southeastern Conference (SEC) for the 2024 season. The SEC made a ten-year broadcast deal with ESPN, also starting in 2024, that means all SEC games will air on ABC, ESPN (and its related channels), and SEC Network. The Conference championship, previously shown on CBS, will be on ABC this season.

Games on ABC are usually simulcast on ESPN3. At least one game will be streaming-only on ESPN+/SECN+. This is available to fans with a streaming subscription to SEC Network, as this should provide them access to SECN+ through the ESPN app.

Oklahoma Sooners Football

The Oklahoma Sooners used to be members of the Big 12 Conference, but that changed this season when they transferred to the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Their most recent conference title came in 2020, while their most recent claimed national title was earned in 2000. In 2003, they lost in the BCS title game to LSU but were named as unofficial national champions by one pollster.

Texas is widely regarded as Oklahoma’s biggest rival. The two schools play in the Red River Shootout each season. This year it will be played on October 12th at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Texas is currently ranked fourth in the nation, which means a win could also help Oklahoma’s hopes of making the playoffs.

Another major rival is Nebraska. Throughout much of the 20th century, Oklahoma would play Nebraska on Thanksgiving Day, but the teams have not played each other much in recent years as they now play in different conferences. Oklahoma and Nebraska are scheduled to play each other in 2029 and 2030.

The Sooners also have a major in-state rivalry with Oklahoma State, as well as Colorado and Missouri.
