Cleveland Browns Week 3

Unlike Dallas, Cleveland is probably regretting the contract that they gave their quarterback. DeShaun Watson would have a dead cap charge of $200 million if he were released, which is almost the entire salary cap for 2024. In 2025 and 2026, he has a cap hit of $72.5 million. Therefore, they’ll have to continue to put up with performances like last week when he had a 51.1 quarterback rating in a 33-17 loss to the Cowboys at home.

Despite having the league’s top defense last year, Cleveland will struggle to be a contender in the AFC North and beyond if the offense doesn’t get its act together quickly.

The Cleveland Browns kick off Week 3 with a standing of 1-1.

Out-of-Market Cleveland Browns Games

If you are a Browns fan outside of the Ohio area, it can be difficult to find your team on TV when they play Sunday afternoon. Those broadcasts will usually feature teams that are favored by those in your area. This is more or the opposite of the familiar MLB local blackout.

You can learn all your options in our NFL Out-of-Market Football Games page.

NFL Sunday Ticket is the obvious choice for out-of-market games. It is only available via YouTube and YouTube TV subscribers. See our Sunday Ticket review for more.

A less expensive option is to use a VPN to watch out-of-market NFL games. See ExpressVPN for all the things you need to keep in mind when doing this.

About the Cleveland Browns

Will the Cleveland Browns be able to make it to the postseason in consecutive years for the first time since 1988-89? That is, of course, the primary goal, and then, if they do, the team will want to improve on its playoff showing last year, a 45-14 loss to the Texans and a quick exit. Another goal for this squad is claiming the AFC North title, which would be its first division crown since 1989.

A year ago, Cleveland had a solid 11-6 campaign despite injuries battering the team throughout the season. In fact, the Browns started five quarterbacks, not only the most in franchise history but the highest total by any NFL team since the Patriots did so in 1987.

Much of the focus of those in Cleveland this fall will be on quarterback Deshaun Watson, more specifically on his health as he broke a bone in his throwing shoulder last year and has spent the offseason recovering from that. A couple of other big names returning on offense will be wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back Nick Chubb.

That said, Cleveland’s defense needs to also be solid for the Browns to succeed. Leading it will be end Myles Garrett, who received Defensive Player of the Year accolades in 2023, and tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. They will be joined by retuning linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, new-to-the-team linebacker Jordan Hicks, who played for the Vikings the past two years, and longtime Brown cornerback Denzel Ward.

Taking the kicking and punting duties in 2024 are expected to be Dustin Hopkins, who suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of his 2023 campaign, and Corey Bojorquez.

Calling the shots from the sidelines will be Kevin Stefanski, who has been the team’s head coach since 2020. His squads have gone 37-30, quite an improvement on the 17-62-1 record that the 2015-19 Browns had posted.
