Philadelphia Eagles Week 3

The Eagles are looking to keep the solid seasons coming — Philadelphia has made the postseason in six of the past seven — and they got their 2024 campaign off to a positive start with a 34-29 win over the Packers in São Paulo, Brazil.

Running back Saquon Barkley played especially well in his debut with the team, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 109 yards. The last player to get into the end zone three times in his Eagles debut was Terrell Owens 20 years ago.

Although the game south of the equator was technically a home contest for the Eagles, they will actually play in Philadelphia on Monday, against the Falcons.

The Philadelphia Eagles currently have a record of 1-1 in Week 3.

About the Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia started the 2023 season 10-1, and after a 37-34 win against Buffalo, there was serious talk about Jalen Hurts being an MVP candidate. That proved to be the peak of their campaign though, as they lost five of their next six games to finish the year 11-6.

After a home loss to Tampa Bay in the playoffs, there’s been much discussion on how the Eagles will respond going into this season. Deservedly or not, head coach Nick Siriani earned some criticism from fans and others around the league for his performance.

Philadelphia drafted Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo and Cooper DeJean from Iowa to bolster their secondary in 2024-25. They also added running back Saquon Barkley before training camp. The whole team will improve too — if it can just stay healthy. Receiver AJ Brown was lost for the playoffs last year after suffering a knee injury in the final regular-season game, while Jalen Hurts dealt with an injury during the later part.

The offense will also have to deal with the loss of Jason Kelce to retirement. He was the anchor of the offensive line and one of the key players who made the “tush push” so effective for the team.

Although Philadelphia fell short in their quest to win the Super Bowl last year, they have had a history of success in the playoffs. The team has appeared in two Super Bowls and has had one title since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Before the merger, the Eagles won three world titles, the last of which was in 1960.

Notable players in the franchise’s history include Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, and Brian Dawkins. Legendary pass rusher Reggie White played the first part of his career in Philly before moving to Green Bay. The team’s main rivals include Santa Claus and the New York Giants.

The Eagles have been based at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 2003.
