Out-of-Market Games – Do Steelers Fans Need NFL Sunday Ticket?

Steelers fans who don’t live within the team’s broadcast region may find it hard to watch their team’s matchups, as most NFL games air locally on affiliate networks. These fans should read our guide to watching NFL Out-of-Market Football Games to learn about their options.

The obvious solution is NFL Sunday Ticket. This is only available through YouTube or YouTube TV though, making it expensive. A cheaper alternative is to watch out-of-market NFL games with a VPN. We suggest Express VPN.

About the Pittsburgh Steelers

To Mike Tomlin’s credit, the Steelers have never had a losing season during his tenure. Pittsburgh managed to sneak into the playoffs as the seventh seed in the AFC last year, despite having an anemic offense led by a combination of Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubiski, and Mason Rudolph at quarterback.

During the offseason, Pickett was traded to Philadelphia, Trubiski was released and signed by the Bills, and Rudolph signed with Tennessee. In their place, the team traded for Justin Fields and signed Russell Wilson as a free agent.

Despite lacking a big-time receiver, the Steelers opted for offensive linemen with their first two picks in the draft. They also failed to sign anyone of note in free agency, but there are rumors the team might eventually land Brandon Aiyuk in a trade.

Ultimately, it looks like the Steelers will play a ground-and-pound style with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren getting a lot of carries. New offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has shown an affinity for running the football during stints with Tennessee and Atlanta. They will get to develop their style in training camp before game day.

On defense, the team will go as far as TJ Watt can take them. Perhaps the best edge rusher in the game today, Watt played in all 17 games in 2023 after missing seven the year before. His health will play a large role in determining how far the Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 season will go.

Although the team has struggled to achieve much in the past few years, historically they’re one of the best in the league. Pittsburgh has won six Super Bowl titles, their last following the 2008 season. A few of their notable players include “Mean” Joe Greene, Franco Harris, and Troy Polamalu. Terry Bradshaw and Rod Woodson are other Steelers players who were paramount to the franchise’s success over the last several decades.
