Fubo Packages: Pick the Best & Cheapest Plan You Need to Replace Cable

I’ve found that Fubo stands out as a sports-first live TV streaming service. In recent years, I’ve watched it evolve into an excellent all-around streaming platform that now offers the industry’s largest channel selection in its base package. Let me walk you through the details of Fubo’s plans and available channels for subscribers.

Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.

Fubo Plans and Pricing

FuboTV was started in 2015 as a way to stream the wide world of international soccer to underserved audiences in the United States. It grew greatly over the years and in 2023, FuboTV changed its name to Fubo.

There are four Fubo plans. Three are geared toward English-language customers: Pro, Elite, and Deluxe. The fourth, Fubo’s Latino plan, serves the United States’ substantial Spanish-speaking audience.

Fubo Channels Comparison

Many people still think that Fubo is just a streaming service for sports fans. But that is a very limited view. As discussed below, Fubo offers a great selection of live programming for sports — especially international sports where no service really compares.

But Fubo offers the full package with pretty much everything you would expect from a cable provider except for the Turner (eg, CNN, TNT, Cartoon Network), AMC, A&E, and HBO-related channels.

Fubo Sports Channels

There are four kinds of sports channels:

  • General: These channels cover a variety of sports depending upon what’s going on in the world. Examples include ESPN and FS2 (Fox Sports 2).
  • Single sport: These channels focus on a particular sport although they may program other things. Examples include Golf Channel and Tennis Channel.
  • League: These channels cover a specific league. There is some crossover with single-sport channels. Examples include NBA Network and Big Ten Network.
  • Regional: These channels provide a large amount of coverage of sporting events that don’t have an audience big enough for national coverage. They are referred to as “regional sports networks” or RSNs. The channels included in Fubo packages depend upon where you live. For more information, see Local Channels below.

Sports Channel Add-Ons

All the Fubo plans (especially Elite/Premier) provide good coverage of sports. But Fubo offers more — especially when it comes to international sports.

Sports Plus With NFL RedZone

At $10.99/mo, Sport Plus features NFL RedZone, which presents 7 hours of live games each Sunday afternoon during the season. It’s big thing is showing the local stream of every game when a team reaches the red zone (20-yard line, and hence the name). But it offers a lot more including NCAA football, NBA, NHL, and more.

There is a fair amount of crossover between Sports Plus and Fubo Extra (see below), which is included with the Elite plan. The channels in both are marked with the † symbol.

  • ACCN†
  • ESPNU†
  • ESPNews†
  • Fight Network
  • Fuel TV

International Sports Plus

For $6.99/mo, International Sports Plus offers 12 channels focused on soccer. There is some overlap with the Latino Plus (†) add-on:

  • FOX Deportes†
  • FOX Soccer Plus
  • Fubo Latino Network (1 & 2)
  • Fubo Sports Network (2 & 3)
  • GolTV English
  • GolTV Spanish†
  • Real Madrid TV
  • TyC Sports†
  • Zona Futbol†.

Adventure Plus

With Adventure Plus, you get 6 sports-adjacent channels for $4.99/mo. They focus on hunting, fishing, adventure, and (in one case) motorsports. These channels are not available in any other add-on.

  • InTrouble
  • Waypoint TV
  • Mav TV
  • Outdoor Channel
  • Outside TV
  • Sportsman Channel
  • World Fishing Network

RAI Italia

At $8.99/mo, RAI Italia features content about Italian culture. It features Italian-language coverage of Serie A and Coppa Italia soccer matches.

TV5MONDE

TV5MONDE is a French-language channel for $9.99/mo. It covers soccer, rugby, and other sports in addition to more general entertainment content.

4K Events

Fubo’s Elite and Premier plans offer over 130 events in 4K. These include major events such as the Super Bowl, March Madness, NASCAR, and much more. They provide a list of upcoming events streamed in 4K. Note that not all devices support 4K streaming.

Fubo Local Channels

There are two kinds of local channels that Fubo provides: network affiliates and regional stations. Their availability is dependent upon the location of the subscriber.

There are 8 networks that Fubo provides access to. Five of them are English language: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and The CW. And three are Spanish language: Telemundo, Univision, and UniMás.

Most locations provide access to affiliates to the majority of these networks. Some, like Philadelphia and San Francisco, provide them all. The coverage in more remote locations is worse. For example, Fubo provides access only to the NBC affiliate (WVGN) in the Virgin Islands.

FuboTV Local Channels
Under the Guide tab in the Fubo interface, you can filter so you see only the local stations that are part of your plan.

Fubo offers at least some regional stations in most areas. These include important regional sports networks (RSPs), which can be critical additions for local fans.

For more details, check out our Fubo Local Channels guide.

TV Everywhere

Fubo provides great access to TV Everywhere applications. This allows you to watch content from 85+ live channels directly on their own apps. The apps include:

  • ABC

  • Animal Planet Go
  • BBC America

Access sports programming on Fubo using the Android phone app.

Non-Channel Add-Ons

Fubo offers technical add-ons to increase cloud DVR storage but these no longer apply as all plans get unlimited storage now.

A few add-ons only support the Latino plan. There are the Family Share (share 3 simultaneous streams for $5.99/mo) and Unlimited Screens ($9.99/mo) add-ons. See our Fubo review for all the details.

Getting Fubo

In order to use Fubo, you will need to have a supported device. This shouldn’t be difficult. If you are reading this, you probably already have one: your web browser. (Fubo recommends Chrome, however.)

Fubo supports most other devices as well: Amazon Fire TV, Android, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Hisense, iPhone, Roku, Samsung Smart TVs, and Xbox One. See our Fubo device guide for all the details.

Once you know Fubo is right for you, it’s easy to sign up. See our step-by-step guide.

Summary

Fubo isn’t the only Live TV streaming service. Hulu + Live TV provides an excellent general service for the same price but it doesn’t offer nearly as much in terms of sports programming. Sling TV does not offer as much but is half the price. In terms of features and price, YouTube TV is Fubo’s strongest competitor.

When it comes to sports, Fubo really can’t be beaten. And when it comes to international sports, it hasn’t been equaled anywhere. But Fubo is a good service even for people who aren’t interested in sports at all. If you have decided to move on from cable, check out Fubo now.

FAQs

How many channels does Fubo have?

Fubo offers over 200 channels in total but the number subscribers receive depends upon their plans and add-ons. The Pro plan ($79.99/month) with no add-ons features 100+ channels plus whatever local and regional channels are available in your area. The Spanish-language Latino plan ($32.99/month) only includes 40 channels but even it provides a broad selection of programming.

Does Fubo offer TNT? What about TBS?

Fubo is missing all of the Turner channels. That means that it does not offer TNT or TBS. This is notable because a significant number of MLB, NBA, and NHL playoff games, including the Stanley Cup Final, are featured on these channels. They aren’t necessarily the biggest games but they are still ones fans will want access to.

For MLB, NBA, and NHL fans, we recommend DIRECTV STREAM. Its Choice plan for $108.99/month allows you to watch pretty much every local match-up of the regular season and all the playoffs. The one exception is for viewers in Philadelphia, who will probably want to go with Hulu + Live TV.

Does Fubo have a Family plan?

In mid-2020, Fubo offered a Family plan for $59.99/mo that featured roughly 60 channels with 3 simultaneous streams and 500 hours of Cloud DVR storage. For $54.99/mo, they offered the Fubo Standard plan, which was the same but with only 30 hours of storage. The Standard plan was soon dropped and the Family plan changed until it became the Starter plan in March 2021.

What happened to the Fubo Starter plan?

Fubo used to offer the Starter plan for $64.99/mo. It was identical to the Pro plan except it came with 250 hours of cloud DVR (instead of 1,000 initially and unlimited now) and streaming on only 3 devices (instead of 10). Fubo apparently found that subscribers were happy with the Pro plan being the only option so they dropped the Starter plan in March 2022. The Pro plan is a better deal — especially if you travel.

What happened to the Fubo Cycling add-on?

Fubo used to offer a package that added the channel Fubo Cycling to the International Sports Plus add-on for $11.99. As of the start of 2021, Fubo stopped offering the channel and thus the add-on. There is no indication if or when any cycling-specific channel will return.

Does Fubo have local channels?

Fubo has a good selection of local channels. It offers at least some network affiliates in all media markets. In the larger markets, it provides exceptional local network affiliates and regional sports networks. In the smaller markets, its coverage is significantly worse. For these areas, DIRECTV STREAM may be a better choice. See Local Channels for more information.

Is Fubo free?

No, but they do offer a 7-day free trial. After that, plans start at $79.99/month for the Pro plan, which features about 150+ channels with over 100 sporting events, unlimited cloud DVR, and ability to watch on up to 10 screens at once at home.

Sign Up for a Free Fubo Trial

How much does Fubo cost?

Fubo has a range of plans, starting with Pro at $79.99/month and going up to Premier for $109.99/month. For additional fees, you can customize your channel package with add-ons. See our “Plans and Pricing” section above for more details on base plans, “Sports Channel Add-Ons” for sports extras, and “Non-Sports Channel Add-ons” for everything else.

What’s better, Hulu + Live TV or Fubo?

That depends on what you’re looking for. Hulu Live has Disney+, ESPN+, and includes the Turner and A+E Networks channels. On the other hand, it has fewer channels overall, and it also doesn’t carry the AMC Networks channels (AMC, BBC America, BBC World News, IFC, Sundance TV, WE tv). Fubo also has much better Spanish-language options.

Hulu Live features unlimited DVR storage with a nine-month time limit — the same as Fubo.

The biggest deal-breaker for some is the simultaneous screen allowance. Hulu Live only includes 2 streams at the same time. Considering Hulu allows up to 6 profiles on one account, this seems a little stingy — but the service is happy to upgrade you to unlimited home streams (and 3 out-of-home) for an additional $9.99/mo.

Fubo provides the industry-standard 3 out-of-home devices, and up to 10 screens on your home network. That’s included in your monthly plan (except for the Latino plan), not in addition to it. It’s a pretty big point in Fubo’s favor for any household larger than 2 people.

Which is better, Sling TV or Fubo?

There is rarely a “better” service, just one better for you. Which service is better for you? We can’t tell you that, but we can give you the information to make the decision for yourself. Sling TV and Fubo are pretty stark contrasts in terms of the style of service they offer.

Do you prefer a smaller, cheaper base plan with lots of little add-ons to choose from? Do you have very specific viewing tastes relating to particular subjects or genres — for example, you love home renovation and DIY TV shows and don’t really watch much else? Then you should check out Sling TV.

Or do you prefer a huge selection of lots of different kinds of channels? Maybe you like to channel surf and watch a few minutes of this and a couple minutes of that, changing every commercial break? Or maybe you just have a large household and everyone likes something different? Then Fubo is probably a better choice for you.

Is Fubo better than YouTube TV?

YouTube TV offers the same DVR as Fubo.

YouTube TV is currently $5/mo cheaper, so there is that. On the other hand, YouTube TV charges an extra $20/mo for its 4K Plus add-on, which in addition to 4K also includes unlimited home streams and offline DVR. Fubo includes unlimited home streams in all its English plans and 4K starting with its $99.99/month Elite plan.

Both offer free trials, though, so take each for a test spin and decide for yourself. More details can be found in our full YouTube TV and Fubo reviews.
