Table Of Contents
The Food City 500 has been held at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee since 1961, when it was called the Southeastern 500. Because of the local weather in early spring, this race has a long history of rain delays and cancelations. Let’s all hope for clear skies!
In 2021, the racing surface was changed to a dirt track, becoming the first dirt-run NASCAR Cup Series race of the modern era. In 2022, it was changed to a night race. Interestingly, the other Bristol race in the NASCAR Cup Series is also held after dark: the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. For 2024, the concrete track has been restored.
Previous winners include some of NASCAR’s greatest: Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Burton, Richard Petty, Kevin Harvick, and Kurt Busch. Last year’s dirt race winner was Christopher Bell. Brad Keselowski was the last driver to win the race on concrete, in 2020.
Both drivers are expected to be competing this year, so make sure to sign up for Sling to see who comes out on top!
