Streaming AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain

Fubo

fubotv logo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service that provides access to AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain. It is more affordable than DIRECTV STREAM, costing $94.98/mo to most subscribers.

  • Plan Cost: $79.99/mo
  • RSN Fee:
    • One RSN: $11.99/mo — total: $91.98/mo
    • Two or More RSNs: $14.99/mo — total: $94.98/mo

It provides access to over 130 TV channels including 35+ sports-oriented ones as well as various regional sports networks. Examples in the latter group include beIN Sports, FS1, FS2, CBSSN, ESPN, and ESPN2.

It also allows you to expand your channel lineup with add-ons. For example, its Sports Plus with NFL RedZone add-on ($10.99/mo) includes ESPNU, ESPNews, NHL Network, NBA TV, Pac-12 Networks, and ACC Network.

With all of that said, note that Fubo does not carry TBS or TNT, both of which carry Rockies, Jazz, or Golden Knights games on a national basis from time to time.

All Fubo plans come with 1000 hours of cloud DVR storage and streaming on up to 10 devices. Get more information in our Fubo review.

DIRECTV STREAM

DIRECTV STREAM

Of all the live TV streaming services, no one matches DIRECTV STREAM for access to RSNs.

To receive access to regional sports networks, however, including AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, through DIRECTV STREAM, you need to be within their broadcast areas and purchase access to at least its Choice plan ($108.99/mo). With that said, note that its selection of regional sports networks is impressive — by far the best in the industry.

For example, subscribers in Denver and Salt Lake City will also receive Altitude Sports, where they can watch Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Rapids games.

Meanwhile, those in Las Vegas will enjoy access to numerous regional sports networks, a list that also includes Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum SportsNet LA, NBC Sports California, NBC Sports Bay Area, Bally Sports West, Bally Sports SoCal, and Bally Sports San Diego.

Also keep in mind that all Choice plan subscribers receive the ability to watch over 100 national TV channels including over a dozen sports channels such as the ACC Network, Big Ten Network, SEC Network, NBA TV, MLB Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and Fox Sports 1 (FS1). The NHL Network, CBS Sports Network, and Fox Sports 2 (FS2) can be watched as well after making an upgrade to DIRECTV STREAM’s Ultimate plan ($119.99/mo).

All plans come with unlimited cloud DVR storage (online subscriptions only) and streaming on unlimited devices. See our DIRECTV STREAM review for more information.

Cable and Satellite Options

If you are okay going outside streaming options, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain is available from a number of other providers depending on where you live:

  • Colorado: CenturyLink, DIRECTV Satellite, Evoca, Spectrum, Xfinity, and a number of regional providers like Fort Collins Connexion, Rebeltec Communications, and USA Communications.
  • Nevada: AT&T U-verse and DIRECTV Satellite. Las Vegas is also covered by CenturyLink and Cox Communications.
  • Utah: CenturyLink (limited), DIRECTV Satellite, Evoca, Google Fibre (Provo), TDS (limited), Xfinity (Salt Lake City), and various regional providers like Central Telcom Services, Emery Telcom, STRATA Networks, and Veracity Networks.
  • Wyoming: DIRECTV Satellite, Evoca, Spectrum, and regional providers Sweetwater Cable TV and TCT.

In the surrounding states, the only consistent provider is DIRECTV Satellite. There are occasionally others and they are usually those that are provided by close-by states. For example, Evoca provides service in western South Dakota just like it does in Wyoming.

Other Options

If you would like to follow the Colorado Rockies, Utah Jazz, or Vegas Golden Knights without AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, you have a few options.

Most notably, if you are outside of a team’s blackout area, you can subscribe to an out-of-market streaming service. For example, those eligible can watch Rockies games through MLB.tv ($24.99/mo). Out-of-market Jazz contests are available through NBA League Pass ($14.99/mo). And ESPN+ ($10.99/mo) handles out-of-market broadcasts of Golden Knights matches.

You can also focus solely on national broadcasts of any of these teams that you are interested in, such as games that they play on ESPN, TNT, TBS, ABC, and FS1. We recommend Hulu + Live TV ($76.99/mo), which also includes ESPN+. For a low-cost option, check out Sling TV ($40.00/mo).

Another option, a particularly affordable one, is to instead focus on radio coverage of these franchises’ games. This can generally be done through an actual radio or online via the station’s website or otherwise. All Rockies, Jazz, and Golden Knights games are broadcast on their radio networks.

AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain Names Over the Years

This RSN has gone through numerous name changes over the years. It was known as the Prime Sports Network when it was launched in 1988. It was later known as Prime Sports Network – Rocky Mountain and Prime Sports Rocky Mountain over the following eight years.

Its names that followed then were Fox Sports Rocky Mountain, Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain, and FSN Rocky Mountain before it took on its Root Sports Rocky Mountain moniker in 2011.

Finally, in 2017, it became AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain.

Teams Covered by AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain

AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain focuses on three major league sports franchises, all of which are located in not only different metropolitan areas but also in different states.

One is the Colorado Rockies. This MLB team is featured on AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain for all or nearly all of its regular-season games.

Another is the Utah Jazz. The NBA franchise is spotlighted regularly on this channel. During the 2021-22 season, this encompassed 77 of the team’s 82 contests.

Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights were slated to be showcased on AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain 70 times during its 82-game 2021-22 regular season.

The WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces usually show up for at least a few games on the channel as well.

Watch the Aces go for a second title run in the WNBA Playoffs starting September 13 — get it for less with Sling TV! Save 50% on your first month of Sling TV.

AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain also broadcasts college and high school sports events, but those occur much less often. Some examples include numerous Colorado College men’s hockey games (it is a Division I institution in that sport) while Mountain West Conference and other college sports events are sometimes shown as well.

Sports Teams Formerly Broadcast by AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain

AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain used to also own the local broadcasting rights for the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. But those were lost to newly formed Altitude Sports in 2004. You will need to head there in order to watch those teams play on a regular basis.

The channel also regularly broadcasted Colorado Buffaloes contests, but their games, for the most part, are now shown on the Pac-12 Networks instead. Meanwhile, Denver Pioneers matchups were lost by AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain to Altitude in 2016.

Areas Covered by AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain

AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain provides coverage throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. This is made up primarily of Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming. It also reaches into parts of Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, California, and Arizona. Some claim it is also available in Kansas, but we can’t find any locations where that’s the case.

When considering whether or not to get this channel, keep in mind the numerous blackouts that occur within its broadcast area. For example, the Golden Knights cannot be viewed in Denver, and its Jazz telecasts are not available for viewing in Las Vegas.

However, those in Salt Lake City get the best of everything as they are able to watch Rockies, Jazz, and Golden Knights games on AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain.

Programming

The focus of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain are the live games its broadcasts of Rockies, Jazz, and Golden Knights games. These all include pregame and postgame shows with news and analysis.

They also air college football, basketball, and other NCAA sports — generally with a focus on the west with Big Sky Conference and Mountain West Conference games.

AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain also provides a selection of original shows that focus on their core teams such as The Club: Colorado Rockies and Knight Life.

But, like most RSNs, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain features a lot of paid advertising when there isn’t much live sports happening.

Commentators

Colorado Rockies broadcasts include the voices of Drew Goodman, Jeff Huson, Jenny Cavnar, Marc Stout, Ryan Spilborghs, Cory Sullivan, and Kelsey Wingert. Goodman, the team’s play-by-play voice, has been in that role with the Rockies since 2002.

Craig Bolerjack is the play-by-play voice for the Utah Jazz. Holly Rowe, a Utah native, joined Jazz broadcasts in 2021-22. Thurl Bailey, a former Jazz player (1983-91, 1999), brings his vocals to the games as well.

Vegas Golden Knights broadcasts are headlined by play-by-play announcer Dave Goucher, who has been with the team since 2017-18. He is joined by Shane Hnidy (color commentator) and Ashali Vise (rinkside reporter).

FAQs

Why did AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain shut down?

The three AT&T SportsNet channels were owned by Warner Bros Discovery, which decided to get out of the regional sports network business. AT&T SportsNet Southwest was sold to the Rockets and Astros and renamed Space City Home Network. And AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh was purchased by the Penguins and lost the “AT&T” from its name. No one bought AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain so the channel shuttered and the licensing was shared by three entities.

Does Fubo offer AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain?

Yes, Fubo provides AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain to subscribers in the Rocky Mountain Region. And it comes with their base (Pro) plan for $94.98/mo. You will also get Altitude Sports (covering the Nuggets, Avalanche, and Rapids). However, there are areas where Fubo does not offer AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, so make sure you are covered before signing up.

Can I get AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain with YouTube TV?

YouTube TV ($72.99/mo) offers a very limited selection of RSNs and it does not offer any of the AT&T SportsNet channels including Rocky Mountain. It does, however, provide a good selection of national sports channels in its base plan with some add-on options for more.

Does AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain come with Hulu + Live TV?

Like YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV offers very few RSNs and none of the former AT&T SportsNet Networks channels (SportsNet Pittsburgh, defunct Rocky Mountain, or Space City Home Network). They only provide the six NBC Sports RSNs and SportsNet New York. But they do provide an excellent channel lineup in addition to ESPN+, so fans should be very happy with it.
