Stream Bally Sports San Diego
Bally Sports San Diego offers two streaming choices: FuboTV and DIRECTV STREAM. With them, you can watch the vast majority of the games of the Padres, Los Angeles Clippers, and Anaheim Ducks.
FuboTV
FuboTV is the least expensive choice to get Bally Sports Dan Diego. It offers a broad collection of 130+ live TV channels but also a ton of sports including CBS Sports Network (CBSSN), ESPN, and FS1. It also including the networks beIN Sports and TUDN.
You can watch on up to 10 devices at home and two away. And you get 1,000 hours of cloud DVR storage with no expiration time.
FuboTV’s pricing depends upon the number of RSNs included with the plan. For most subscribers, it will be $88.98/mo.
- Plan Cost: $74.99/mo
- RSN Fee:
- One RSN: $10.99/mo — total: $85.98/mo
- Two or More RSNs: $13.99/mo — total: $88.98/mo

DIRECTV STREAM
The second Bally Sports San Diego option is DIRECTV STREAM. But you will need to sign up for, at a minimum, its Choice plan ($99.99/mo).
In addition to Bally Sports San Diego and other RSNs, it provides roughly 100 total channels including local network affiliates and nationally-focused sports channels such as ESPN, ESPNU, Fox Sports 1, and MLB Network.
However, you may want to make a bump up to its Ultimate plan ($109.99/mo), especially if you are looking to watch San Diego State football and men’s basketball games. That is because CBSSN is available through the Ultimate plan, not Choice.
During the 2020-21 men’s basketball season, half of that team’s 28 games were broadcast on CBSSN as are seven of the school’s 12 regular-season football games in 2021.

Bally Sports+
Note: At this point, Bally Sports+ has secured rights for the games of all covered NBA and NHL teams. But it has not secured rights to most MLB team games. Make sure that your teams will be available before signing up. Or go with FuboTV.
You can get Bally Sports San Diego through the direct-to-consumer streaming service, Bally Sports+. There’s only one plan and it allows subscribers to get whatever channels their location allows. But it does offer two payment plans:
- Monthly: $19.99
- Yearly: $189.99.
Bally Sports+ offers support for a modest collection of streaming devices: Amazon Fire TV, Android mobile, Android TV-compatible TVs, iOS (iPhone, iPad) tvOS, and most web browsers (through BallySports.com).
Note that this is a very focused streaming service only including only channels from the Bally Sports network. Those wanting national live channels should supplement it with other services like Sling TV.
Also, Lakers and Galaxy fans who want Spectrum SportsNet should go with DIRECTV STREAM instead, since it provides that channel as well as the local Bally Sports channels.
Alternatives to Bally Sports San Diego
The alternatives for Bally Sports San Diego depend on where you live and which teams you are interested in.
If you are located in its broadcast area and want to watch the Padres but do not want this channel, you are limited to the team’s few games on Fox, FS1, ESPN, and TBS. You can get these for as little as $40.00/mo with Sling TV.
Of course, if you are outside the coverage area, a subscription to MLB.TV ($24.99/mo) would grant you access to locally produced broadcasts. Keep in mind that you do not need to go far to get out of that blackout region as long as you are heading north or south; going north into Orange County or south into Mexico would do the trick.
If you are focused on SDSU sports events, Bally Sports San Diego would be of little use to you anyway. For these games, you need CBSSN, which you can get through other streaming services, including Hulu + Live TV ($69.99/mo).
Meanwhile, most of that school’s other major sporting events are shown on over-the-air CBS and on Fox Sports 1 while minor SDSU sports contests are usually streamed through Mountain West Network.
Conversely, San Diego Toreros sports events, including football and men’s basketball games, are mostly freely available online through WCC Network although a handful are on channels such as ESPN.

TVs and Other Streaming Devices for Bally Sports San Diego
You don’t need to huddle around a computer to stream Bally Sports San Diego. FuboTV and DIRECTV STREAM support a wide variety of devices. You’ll have no trouble watching the Padres on your big-screen TV. And if you want to watch it on your smartphone, that’s easy too.
Probably the most popular way to stream on your TV is to use one of the “stick” devices like the Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku. Another popular way to watch is to cast from a phone or similar device using Chromecast that is either built into a TV or connected to it with an external device.
Both services also support iOS and Android phones and tablets.
They also support most Android TV and Samsung smart TV models directly. Or if you do want to huddle around your computer, you can watch on most web browsers. DIRECTV STREAM also has its own device, which can make switching from cable to streaming even easier.
FuboTV supports a number of other smart TVs like the Hisense, LG, and Vizio brands. And it supports the Xbox gaming system.
Finally, you can use your DIRECTV STREAM account to log in to the Bally Sports App. It supports still more devices including other smart TVs in addition to the Xbox One.
What Is Bally Sports San Diego?
Bally Sports San Diego is a regional sports network (RSN) that was created in advance of the 2012 San Diego Padres season, essentially replacing 4SD, which had previously owned the rights to show Padres games locally.
The Padres are this channel’s clear focus and the only San Diego-based team that it regularly shows games of. If you can’t make it to Petco Park, you can generally watch the game (home and away) with Bally Sports San Diego.

What Sports Does Bally Sports San Diego Cover?
When the San Diego Padres are in their offseason, Bally Sports San Diego programming is filled by the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and NHL’s Anaheim Ducks.
Bally Sports West is also available in California’s San Diego and Imperial Counties to DIRECTV STREAM subscribers. On this channel, you can watch games played by the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. Meanwhile, if you are looking for the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, Spectrum SportsNet, also available to DIRECTV STREAM customers here, is where you want to head.
However, if you are in America’s Finest City but do not cheer for the Padres and instead support the Los Angeles Dodgers or Angels, note that you cannot get those games on television here. But you can subscribe to MLB.TV ($24.99/mo) to watch their contests as the only team that you are blocked out from through that service is the Padres.
And, of course, the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers and Rams are available through other outlets, including Fox, NBC, CBS, ESPN, and NFL Network. You should receive all or nearly all of those teams’ games in San Diego since that city is no longer host to a franchise after the Chargers made the move north in 2017.
When considering if this channel is right for you, keep in mind that Bally Sports San Diego does not focus on college sports. Few of the college games that it does broadcast feature either the San Diego Toreros or the San Diego State Aztecs.
Other programming shown on this channel includes tennis, poker, beach volleyball, boxing, powerboat racing, golf, and horse racing.
Where Is Bally Sports San Diego Available?
Bally Sports San Diego is available in California’s San Diego and Imperial Counties and the southern portion of Arizona, including Yuma and Tucson.
Keep in mind that if you are in an area of Arizona that receives Bally Sports San Diego, the only other RSN that will accompany it will be Bally Sports Arizona and its coverage of Grand Canyon State-based major league sports teams. However, that does mean that you can watch both the Padres and the Diamondbacks if you want to.
In California, once you cross over into Orange County, you cannot access Bally Sports San Diego.
It is also available to subscribers in Hawaii (which is a particularly good location for RSNs, offering all the RSNs from southern and northern California there).
Is There Bally Sports San Diego Extra?
Unlike some other Bally Sports RSNs, there is no Bally Sports San Diego Extra (or Plus), presumably because it just has one primary focus — the Padres — and does not have multiple teams that may need to be pushed to another channel.
Bally Sports San Diego Commentators
Don Orsillo, who moved to America’s Finest City after his contract was not renewed by the Boston Red Sox following the 2014 season, is the lead voice on San Diego Padres broadcasts. Mark Grant, who played for the team from 1987-90, is the analyst on those broadcasts. Tony Gwynn Jr sometimes joins the booth as well.
Wrapping Up
If you would like to keep up to date on the Padres, San Diego’s only major league sports team, getting Bally Sports San Diego is a must.
FuboTV is our top choice for streaming Bally Sports San Diego. Fubo allows you to try out its service free for 7 days.
But Lakers fans may want to go up to DIRECTV STREAM. New customers get 5-day free trial with DIRECTV STREAM.

FAQs
What happened to Fox Sports San Diego?
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) declared that Walt Disney’s acquisition of Fox Sports Network violated antitrust laws because of its existing ownership of ESPN. All the associated RSNs, including Fox Sports San Diego, were sold to Sinclair Broadcast Group and Entertainment Studios (as Diamond Holdings). Fox Sports San Diego was rebranded as Bally Sports San Diego.
Can I subscribe to Bally Sports San Diego directly?
Starting with the 2022 MLB regular season, Bally Sports+ allows qualified subscribers to watch any of its individual channels. So those in its broadcast area can get Bally Sports San Diego through the service. It costs $19.99/mo or $189.99/yr. Note that if you want channels outside the Bally Sports network, you may be better off with DIRECTV STREAM.
What can I do if I’m not in Bally Sports San Diego’s coverage area?
Fortunately for those not in Bally Sports San Diego’s coverage area, if the Padres are your focus, you can subscribe to MLB.TV ($24.99/mo) to watch their games. Meanwhile, the vast majority of San Diego Toreros and San Diego State Aztecs games are shown on broadcast outlets that are available nationally anyway.
Can I watch Bally Sports San Diego on Hulu?
In 2020, Hulu + Live TV ended its contract with (then) Fox Sports and so today has no Bally Sports channels including Bally Sports San Diego. It does offer a few other regional sports networks but none that are available to subscribers in southern California.
Does YouTube TV offer Bally Sports San Diego?
YouTube TV stopped offering the Bally Sports channels at the same time as Hulu + Live TV. It does provide most national sports channels but offers limited RSNs (and none in the areas covered by Bally Sports San Diego). To get Bally Sports Arizona, sign-up with DIRECTV STREAM.

Hello, I need advice, I would like to watch Bally’s Sports San Diego via DIRECTV Stream, however I live in Las Vegas, reading above I would need to get the MLB TV pkg. for 24.99 mth. My concern would be that since I live close to San Diego, the San Diego Padres games would be blacked out. Is that correct?
Thank You, Steve
If you are in the Padres broadcast area, you will get the games if you sign up with DIRECTV STREAM. If you are in Las Vegas, you will be outside the broadcast area and thus need MLB.TV. Both DIRECTV STREAM and MLB.TV have zip code lookup tools so you can make sure.
Half the people I know have cut the cable and are steaming! Only one choice to stream Padres games??? Shame on MLB for not keeping up to date!
