Why was the 2023 Emilia Romagna GP cancelled?
The area experienced severe flooding, including the river that runs dangerously close to the pit lane. As a result, F1 organizers canceled the Imola GP to prioritize the safety of their personnel and fans, and the major roads were also flooded, making getting to the track almost impossible.
This racing circuit is located around 24 miles (40 km) southeast of Bologna. Significant rains and violent weather have wreaked havoc on the territory surrounding Bologna in recent months. The cancellation will allow local authorities could put all their efforts into the relief attempts
Unfortunately, F1 cannot reschedule due to an already busy calendar, but the Imola circuit has offered fans a full refund or the option to convert their ticket to the 2024 event as compensation.
