NASCAR Playoffs: How to Watch Southern 500 This Weekend

Last Updated:

Update: Despite starting at #15, Erik Jones managed to win the 2022 Southern 500. Following him were Denny Hamlin, Tyler Reddick, Joey Logano, and Christopher Bell. Don’t miss the Hollywood Casino 400 next Sunday at (EDT).

The NASCAR playoffs are here this weekend with the Southern 500. The whole thing airs live on USA Network:

  • Dates: Sat Sep 3 and Sun Sep 4
  • Events:
    • Sat Sep 3 (EDT): Practice
    • Sat Sep 3 (EDT): Qualifying
    • Sun Sep 4 (EDT): Cook Out Southern 500
  • Channel: USA Network
  • Live Stream: USANetwork.com, USA App, Live TV Streaming Apps

Drivers

Kurt Busch was the only winning driver this year (AdventHealth 400) who did not make the playoffs. So the field is made up of 15 drivers who won at least one race and one driver who made the playoff on points.

That driver is Ryan Blaney, who finished with the third highest point total after Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson. Of course, Blaney did win a race this season, the All-Star Race on May 22nd. In fact, he won it twice! But it is an exhibition race with no points. But it did come with a million dollar check!

  1. Chase Elliott
  2. Joey Logano
  3. Ross Chastain
  4. Kyle Larson
  5. William Byron
  6. Denny Hamlin
