Team Belgium at the 2022 World Cup

Belgium enters the 2022 World Cup ranked second in the world behind Brazil. This will be the 14th World Cup final that the nation has participated in, and the country made its debut at the event in 1930. Belgium qualified by winning its group during the first round of the UEFA regional tournament.

The nation is coming off its best finish at a World Cup after finishing in third place at the 2018 event in Russia. Belgium also finished fourth at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Prior to the 1954 tournament in Switzerland, many in the soccer media believed that Belgium could be a favorite to win it all. However, the team only managed a draw and a loss during group play and were denied entry into the knockout phase.

In 2022, there is a good chance that Belgium will make it past the group phase. However, it will need to contend with a dangerous Croatian team that is currently ranked 12th in the world and a Morocco team that is 22nd in the world. It will also need to navigate past a pesky Canadian squad that finished first in the CONCACAF regional tournament.

Belgian National Team Players

Of course, there is a reason why the country is deemed to be one of the best in the world. It will be led by Kevin De Bruyne who plays his club soccer for Premier League power Manchester City. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois plays his club soccer for Real Madrid while striker Romelu Lukaku plays for Inter Milan and is considered the best player on the roster.

It will be interesting to see if Lukaku will be able to overcome recent hamstring injuries that may limit his performance in Qatar. However, even if he is limited, there should still be enough to make a run at a World Cup title.

Here’s the rest of head coach Roberto Martinez’s World Cup squad:

  • Eden Hazard (Real Madrid, Forward)
  • Charles de Ketelaere (AC Milan, Forward)
  • Jan Vertonghen (Anderlecht, Defender)
  • Leandro Trossard (Brighton & Hove Albion, Forward)
  • Toby Alderweireld (Royal Antwerp, Defender)

Digital antennas tend to produce adequate broadcast picture quality and may be able to pick up signals from a longer distance than a traditional antenna.
