This year is the 17th CONCACAF Gold Cup. The tournament will be played in 15 stadiums across 14 cities in the US and Canada. The final will be played at the SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California. Gold Cup Overview
The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the main soccer competition for men’s national teams that determines the continental champion of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. It is held every two years.
National teams qualify through a combination of the CONCACAF Nations League and a Gold Cup qualifying tournament.
Sixteen teams face each other in groups of four, then the top eight teams progress to the quarterfinals, followed by four teams progressing to the semifinals, then the final two teams meet in the final to decide the champion.
The Gold Cup has only been won by three teams: Canada, Mexico, and USA. Mexico has the most victorious team with 8 titles. The USMNT (US Men’s National Team) is a close second with 7 titles and will be looking to tie with Mexico this year.
