The Masters on TV

CBS has been the home of The Masters Tournament since it has been aired on TV. That started back in 1956 when coverage featured only the final four holes. Since then, it has greatly expanded.

First-round and second-round coverage did not appear until 1982 when it was provided by USA Network. This coverage was taken over by ESPN in 2008 and that remains the case today.

Sling TV Golf
Sling TV offers great access to golf programming.

Viewers can stream the first two rounds of The Masters on ESPN with the Sling Orange package for $40.00/mo. But Sling does not offer CBS. But there is a reason for that: It doesn’t need to.

As the first live TV streaming service, Sling TV dates back to before local network affiliate contracts were a thing. So they set up a system to integrate digital antennas right in with their streaming app. Sling TV is the only streaming service that allows this.

What it means is that when you bring up your Sling TV Guide, it includes all the streaming channels you get directly along with all the over-the-air (OTA) channels you get from your antenna.

You can even cancel Sling is still have a great, easy-to-use application for watching all your local channels.

Sling TV’s Antenna Deal

There are two ways to go with Sling TV but the deals are roughly the same. In each, you sign up for 3 months of service from Sling TV. This allows you to buy one of two hardware bundles at a greatly reduced price.

Each buddle starts with an indoor RCA digital antenna. It’s unobtrusive and can be hung above and behind your TV.

The bundles diverge when it comes to the AirTV units that integrate the antenna-provided channels into the Sling TV app:

  • AirTV 2: Provides a basic setup that allows you to watch these channels from your Sling TV guide. The whole bundle normally costs $149.94 but you get it from Sling TV for $49.00.
  • AirTV Anyway: This is roughly the same as the AirTV 2 but also allows you to record live TV with 1 TB (roughly 180 hours) of storage. This bundle is normally $244.98 but is only $99.00 from Sling TV.

FAQs

Who has won the most Masters Tournament finals?

Jack Nicklaus has won the most Masters Tournaments with six in 1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975, and 1986. Interestingly, that 23-year stretch is not the longest in the golf tournament’s history. That honor goes to Tiger Woods, who is also the second-winningest golfer in Masters history with five in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2019.

After these two, Arnold Palmer has four wins. Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Nick Faldo, and Phil Mickelson each have three each. And Horton Smith, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Tom Watson, Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Ben Crenshaw, José María Olazábal, and Bubba Watson each have two.

Where can I watch women’s professional golf?

The LPGA Tour — from January to November — is on the Golf Channel, with a handful of events also broadcast on USA Network and NBC. This year, the Women’s PGA Tour is bigger than ever, with 33 events scheduled and total prize money over $101.4 million. You can find more info in our week-by-week guide to the LPGA Tour.
