The Cup Series is the most prestigious, competitive racing series in NASCAR. It features only the top drivers and teams competing at the highest level of motorsports. The races themselves are typically longer, and it uses a separate point system from the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

If you’re looking for the most cost-effective way to watch Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing burn rubber, Sling TV is the way to go. Read on for details.

What is Sling TV?

Sling TV is a streaming live TV provider. It works just like cable or satellite, but without the proprietary equipment, high bills, hidden fees, or long-term contracts. All you need to sign up is a TV, a streaming device, and an internet connection, and you can get started right away. And, in many cases, your TV is a streaming device.

Sling has two base packages, Sling Blue and Sling Orange. Either one is $40.00/mo, or you can get Sling Orange & Blue for $55.00/mo. Sling specializes in customization, with the biggest selection of add-on channels of any streaming service (and more than most traditional TV providers as well).

2023 NASCAR Cup Series on Sling Blue

The Cup Series races are divided between Fox/FS1 (the first half of the season) and NBC/USA (the second half.) This means, no matter where you live, you can still watch all the races that air on FS1 and USA with Sling Blue.

NASCAR Cup Series on Fox

All the races from the start of the season (Feb 5) through June 11 are televised on Fox stations. About half are on Fox (that’s your local Fox station) and half are on Fox Sports 1 (aka FS1, a pay channel.)

The good news is that if you live in a major city, you are very likely to have your local Fox affiliate available on Sling. The bad news is that if you live anywhere else, you likely won’t. Here are the Fox stations included with Sling Blue:

  • Atlanta (WAGA)
  • Austin (KTBC)
  • Chicago (WFLD)
  • Dallas (KDFW)
  • Detroit (WJBK)
  • Gainesville (WOGX)
  • Houston (KRIV)
  • Los Angeles (KTTV)
  • Milwaukee (WITI)
  • Minneapolis (KMSP)
  • New York (WNYW)
  • Orlando (WOFL)
  • Philadelphia (WTXF)
  • Phoenix (KSAZ)
  • San Francisco (KTVU)
  • Seattle (KCPQ)
  • Tampa (WTVT)
  • Washington (WTTG)

NASCAR Cup Series on NBC

From June 25 through the end of the season, which is the Championship on November 5, the Cup Series switches to NBC channels. Similar to Fox/FS1, about half the races are on NBC and half on USA (which is owned by NBC).

The bad news is that Sling’s NBC coverage is even worse than its Fox coverage (and that’s saying something). Here are the NBC stations you can expect to get on Sling Blue:

  • Boston (WBTS)
  • Chicago (WMAQ)
  • Dallas (KXAS)
  • Hartford (WVIT)
  • Los Angeles (KNBC)
  • Miami (WTVJ)
  • New York (WNBC)
  • Philadelphia (WCAU)
  • San Diego (KNSD)
  • San Francisco (KNTV)
  • Washington (WRC)

Filling in the Gaps

There are a few options for those who live outside one or both of Sling’s NBC and Fox local markets.

If you’re thinking that this is starting to sound like an awful lot of trouble: we’re not going to lie, it’s a bit cumbersome. But do the math. For less than $50/mo, you can watch NASCAR Cup Series races, all of them, with a lot of non-sports entertainment to go with. It’s still far cheaper than any other TV provider that covers all the same channels.

Missing NBC, But Not Fox

The easiest way to supplement NBC Sports is with a Peacock Premium subscription (deal). For just $4.99/mo, you can watch NBC Sports live. Plus, you get access to a ton of series from NBC and its sister-channels USA, Bravo, E!, and Syfy and movies from Universal. If you’re interested in more details on Peacock, we’ve got a page for that.

Missing Fox (With or Without NBC)

Unfortunately, Fox doesn’t have any equivalent of NBC’s Peacock or CBS’s Paramount+ (deal). What you can do is get an antenna — and that will take care of both Fox and NBC for most of the country. HD antennas are small, easy to set up, indoors, and give you a great picture. Best of all, they’re cheap — about $50 — and widely available.
