About the Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens compete in the NFL under the American Football Conference North division. They play their home games at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Ravens were knocking on the door of a Super Bowl appearance in 2023, falling just short, losing to the Chiefs at home in the AFC Championship Game, 17-10. Their 2024 squad is looking to get to that point and then take a couple more steps and lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
There are a lot of signs pointing towards that being the case as well as some that detract from that vision.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has compiled a 58-19 record in 77 regular-season starts, is back for another season taking snaps for the Ravens. He, head coach John Harbaugh, and offensive coordinator Todd Monken provide some stability, particularly Jackson and Harbaugh, who have worked together for six years, while Monken is in his second with the franchise.
Helping improve the offense will be newcomer Derrick Henry, a running back who played for the Titans for the past eight seasons. During his time in Tennessee, Henry was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year once and to Pro Bowl rosters on four occasions, all since 2019.
Also playing a pivotal role with the team will be Justin Tucker, who is the NFL’s best all-time kicker by a number of measures, including his having converted more than 90% of his kicks and one of them, a 66-yarder, setting the record for longest nailed.
However, there are notable question marks related to Baltimore’s defense. One reason why is because the team’s defensive coordinator from last season, Mike Macdonald, is now leading the Seahawks. He has been replaced by Zachary Orr, who had never served in this role before.
Also, some top players have departed, including linebackers Jadeveon Clowney and Patrick Queen, cornerback Ronald Darby, and safety Geno Stone.
However, Baltimore’s defense should still be amongst the NFL’s best, just maybe not the best like it was last season while allowing 16.5 points per game. Amongst its talented returners are defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, linebacker Roquan Smith, and safety Kyle Hamilton.
The schedule is in front of us, the countdown has begun, and we’re getting ready for something that we’re about to embark on. It’s going to be very, very challenging, but we’re up for it.
