What is the World Fishing Network?

World Fishing Network (WFN) is a fishing channel that launched in Canada under the ownership of Insight Sports on December 2, 2005. In November 2007, WFN launched in the US as a standard-definition channel on Verizon FiOS.

The company’s growth continued in May 2008 with the launch of the high-definition World Fishing Network HD channel on Dish Network, running a separate schedule from the standard-definition station. WFN has since expanded and is now carried by several other TV providers, such as Charter Communications and Jamaica’s Flow Cable.

Altitude Sports and Entertainment acquired the television network in 2011 and now runs several other stations, such as Outdoor Channel, Major League Fishing, MyOutdoorTV, Sportsman Channel, Down Range TV, and CAS City.
