American television channel Starz Encore was originally introduced in 1991 to serve as a competitor to HBO and other premium cable movie channels. At first, it showed movies from the 1960s and 1970s before slowly integrating content from other eras such as the 1950s as well as first-run movies and rebroadcasts of television shows produced for Starz.
Starz Encore currently has a deal with Lionsgate and Universal to allow it to air first-run movies. There are roughly eight sub-variants of this channel to cater to different segments of the market:

Starz Encore broadcasts almost exclusively feature films. These are constantly changing. Here is a list of some of the hit movies that were broadcast during the two-week period on Starz Encore in June 2024.
If you’re looking to get Starz Encore without cable, I’d say Sling TV is the way to go – it’s a solid choice, especially if you’re on a budget. I tried out a bunch of different services, and Sling TV just gave me the best bang for my buck. Their interface is super easy to navigate. Plus, the picture quality was top-notch, and I never had any issues with buffering or lag. Fubo was a close second with its wider channel selection, but it was a bit pricier. So, yeah, for me, Sling TV ticked all the boxes: great value, easy to use, and awesome streaming quality.
Starz is focused on original programming along with TV shows, live events, and feature films. Starz Encore shows almost exclusively feature films. It doesn’t matter too much given that the two channels are almost always offered together — along with the roughly dozen related channels.
