Washington Huskies Channels

The Washington Huskies football program has been among the country’s elite for more than a century, and the team had one of its best seasons in school history in 2023. Now, the Northwest school is making its way to the Big Ten as the college football world continues to be shaken up geographically.

What does all of that mean as far as watching UW games in “The Greatest Setting in College Football” and at various stadiums throughout the Midwest and elsewhere? If you were already a fan of the Huskies prior to 2024, you are going to need to ensure that you have access to a different mix of channels as the move from the Pac-12 also means new television contracts.

The Pac-12 Network is no more as of June 28, 2024, after the league was left with only two schools (Oregon State and Washington State) and is a conference in limbo that may never be resurrected. Even if it is, the UW will not be a part of it.

To ensure that you can stream all Washington Huskies games, you need to secure access to all of the channels that may broadcast Big Ten games in 2024 and beyond. These include CBS, NBC, FOX, FS1, and the Big Ten Network. Also, Peacock will exclusively stream some Big Ten games. In fact, in 2024, that streaming service will be the only place where you can watch the Apple Cup, the game with Washington State.

In addition, access to ESPN is necessary to watch any College Football Playoff games that the Huskies may be a part of. Also, almost all bowl games are shown on ESPN.

The University of Washington Huskies has a storied athletics program — most notably its football team, which played its first game in the 1800s. Those annals include a pair of national championships in 1991 and 1960 and 18 conference titles while its water-adjacent 70,138-seat Husky Stadium is described as one of the country’s most beautiful.

Head Coach

Despite coming off of one of its best seasons ever, playing in the national title game, 2024 is expected to be a drop from those heights for the UW. That is primarily because head coach Kalen DeBoer left the school after just two years in Seattle as the call to lead Alabama’s program was too strong to resist. He has been replaced by Jedd Fisch, who led former Pac-12 school Arizona the past three seasons.

Players

Player personnel has changed quite a bit too. In fact, only two regular starters return from 2023: junior cornerback Elijah Jackson and senior linebacker Alphonzo Tuputala. Previous quarterback Michael Penix Jr, who led the Huskies’ victory last year, was drafted eighth overall by the Atlanta Falcons.

Despite a run at a national title in 2024 being unlikely, the team is still expected to be good, to potentially be a top-25 program, as players who are currently not all that known in Seattle will likely stand up and get noticed.

A few who may shine on the offensive side of the ball include sophomore wide receiver Denzel Boston, junior running back Jonah Coleman, sophomore center Landen Hatchett, and senior wide receiver Jeremiah Hunter. Junior cornerback Ephesians Prysock may also impress in the defensive backfield.

History

Washington’s 2023 campaign was one of its best as the Huskies started 14-0 with their only setback being a loss to Michigan in the national title game. The 14 wins were the most ever recorded by a UW team, and its .933 winning percentage was its best since the 1991 Huskies went 12-0.

However, the UW did have a rough stretch from 2003-2012 with 7-6 being its best record during that 10-year run before Chris Petersen helped build the program back to prominence during his tenure from 2014-19, going 55-26, including 32-9 from 2016-18. After a pair of forgettable seasons in 2020 and 2021, Kalen DeBoer arrived, and the Huskies went 25-3 under him before he left for the Crimson Tide.

2024 Washington Huskies Football Schedule

As we start the 2024 season, the Huskies have a lot to prove. Sure, they made it to the College Football Playoff National Championship last season. But they’ve lost a lot of talent and are not even ranking in the top 25 as the new season begins. But they could prove a lot of skeptics wrong.

The team’s schedule has some interesting games on it, including an Apple Cup that takes place in the third week. Later, on October 5, is a rematch of last year’s national championship game, versus Michigan at Husky Stadium. The regular season closes with an away rivalry game on Thanksgiving weekend versus the Oregon Ducks.
