The 2024 broadcast contracts for the ACC (which NC State is a member of) mean games will air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, the ACC Network (ACCN), the ACC Network Extra (ACCNX), and The CW.

NC State’s first few games of 2024 will be split between ACCN and ABC. The team’s only non-Saturday game of the regular season (after week one) will be shown on ESPN.

The ACC Championship Game, scheduled for play on December 7 in Charlotte, North Carolina, will be broadcast by either ABC or ESPN.

NC State football teams have been playing games since 1892 (making them the first NC State athletics team) and have claimed 11 conference championships, seven of those in the ACC, although none since 1979. They won their first Bowl game (the Gator Bowl) in 1947.

Is This NC State Football’s Year for ACC Championship Glory?

The Wolfpack are coming off a 9-4 season in which the team finished 21st in both major polls. They beat all of their unranked opponents and lost to those ranked at the time of their matchup — with one exception, a 13-10 setback to unranked Louisville in September. (The Cardinals finished the season as a top-20 program.)

Will 2024 be a title-winning season? Probably not, but this team is expected to have a solid campaign and reach high enough in the standings to make that picture, especially if players on both sides of the ball impress more than expected.

Who Is the Current Head Coach of the NC State Wolfpack Football Team?

The Wolfpack are led by head coach Dave Doeren, who has been at the helm since 2013. Doeren took over from Tom O’Brien after the latter left to be an assistant at Virginia.

This season, the NC State offense is expected to be in the hands of quarterback Grayson McCall, a transfer from Coastal Carolina.

One wide receiver McCall will likely look to a lot is KC Concepcion, who was named the 2023 ACC Rookie of the Year. Running back Jordan Waters, a preseason transfer from Duke who had a ranking of 4 in the ACC in rushing touchdowns a year ago, should expect to receive regular handoffs from McCall.

Much of the defensive side of the ball will be filled by new faces. One of the top players who has returned is cornerback Aydan White, who did not allow a touchdown reception in 2022 or 2023. Another of the expected top returners is defensive tackle Brandon Cleveland.

Punting is expected to be a strength for the Wolfpack with Caden Noonkester returning for his junior campaign. His career punt average of 42.7 entering 2024 is the third-highest in NC State history.

What Is the NC State Wolfpack Football Schedule for the Upcoming Season?

The 2024 NC State team is going to need to start its FBS campaign fast if it is going to make some noise, as a week two matchup with Tennessee will tell fans a lot about the program’s status, while a game at Clemson in the ACC opener two weeks later will set the tone for the conference campaign.

Neither of the 2023 ACC Championship Game participants, Florida State and Louisville, are on the slate. Neither is Miami, so a win over Clemson could propel the Wolfpack to an impressive ACC record this season and possibly a berth in that title game.
