FS1 Online: Stream Live Sports, Shows & Events on Fox Sports 1 Cheaper Than Cable

I love baseball and college football so FS1 is required in our house. Here I’ll explain how to get this channel without paying for cable.

In a hurry? Start watching your favorite sporting events on FS1 with these streaming services:

  • Sling TV: This is the most affordable way to catch FS1 and Fox. Plans start from $40.00/month.
  • Fubo: The most comprehensive sports streaming service provides FS1 with Fox and four other local channels with its plan for $79.99/month.
  • DIRECTV STREAM: You can get FS1 and all local channels as part of its base plan, priced at $79.99/month.

How to Get FS1 Without Cable

Unlike its parent channel, Fox, you can’t set up an antenna and watch FS1 for free. Your only option to watch FS1 without cable is with a streaming service.

Since FS1 is an extremely popular channel, most streaming services provide it. The most affordable service that carries FS1 is the Sling Blue plan at $40.00/month.

You can’t get FS1 for free except via a free trial, like those offered by Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, and YouTube TV.

Other Streaming Options for FS1

  • Fox Sports App: This is a great way to all the Fox Sports channels. However, you need to use TV Everywhere to log in, which means you need an existing TV provider.

More Streaming Details

Unlimited cloud DVR storage comes with Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu, and YouTube TV. Sling offers 50 hours of cloud DVR storage.

The number of screens you get depends on the service and plan.

  • DIRECTV STREAM: Unlimited screens
  • Sling Blue: 3 screens
  • Fubo: 10 screens
  • Hulu: 2 screens
  • YouTube TV: 3 screens

Our Choice

For budget-conscious sports fans looking to watch FS1, Sling TV’s Blue plan is the most affordable choice ($40.00/month). On the other hand, if your budget allows for it and you want more sports coverage, Fubo ($79.99/month) has more sports channels than any other streaming service.

FAQs

What is FS1 other than Fox Sports 1?

With a name like FS1, it isn’t surprising that Fox Sports 1 gets confused with other things. These include:

  • FS1: A German-made unmanned lightvessel (lighthouse on a boat). Similar vessels were named FS3 and FS4 but (thankfully) not FS2.
  • FS1 — Community TV Salzburg: A public TV station in Austria.
  • Yamaha FS1: A small motorcycle (some models with pedals) known as the “Fizzy.” It was produced from 1973 through 1983 for the European and UK markets.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator: The first version was sometimes referred to as FS1.
  • Socket FS1: The socket on AMD-powered laptop motherboards that the APU (CPU and IGPU) is plugged into. It is still being installed in units today.

Don’t get us started on FSI.

What is the difference between FS1 and FS2?

FS1 is the main Fox Sports network. FS2 features general reruns of FS1 programs, overflow coverage (events that would be on FS1 but FS1 ran out of programming time to schedule), and some sports/events with lower viewership. Because FS2 reaches fewer households, Fox sometimes preempts more popular weekend events (like PAC-12 football games) to Fox Business Network (which only has paid programming on weekends when the markets are closed).

Can I get FS1 with an antenna?

FS1 is a pay-TV channel or what used to be called a “cable station.” So it isn’t broadcast over the air and thus is not available via antenna. You can, however, get your local Fox affiliate via antenna. And Fox broadcasts a lot of sports.

How can you watch FS1 in Canada?

You can’t watch FS1 in Canada, sadly. However, when FS1 took over the channel slot that was previously occupied by the motorsports network Speed (which was available in Canada and other international markets), Speed remained on the air outside the US. In 2015, it was renamed Fox Sports Racing, in line with the other Fox Sports properties. It remains mostly motorsports, such as NASCAR, NHRA, ARCA, Formula E, and Grand Prix motorcycle races.

Other events that air on FS1 in the United States may be broadcast by different channels in Canada — check your local listings. For example, the Westminster Dog Show is on Sportsnet.
