Everything You Need to Know About the Washington Nationals
The Washington Nationals served as the return of Major League Baseball to the nation’s capital in 2005. This was more than three decades after MLB left the city in 1971. However, this development also resulted in Montreal losing its team following the Expos’ 2004 campaign.
The Nats have one World Series title to their credit, which includes the team’s history in Canada (1969-2004). That occurred in 2019, at the end of an impressive eight-year run that started in 2012 and that resulted in five playoff appearances, five of the franchise’s six with the other one occurring in Montreal in 1981.
To claim the hardware in 2019, the Nationals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers, St Louis Cardinals, and Houston Astros in postseason play.
However, things went downhill after that historic season. The Nationals have failed to reach the .500 mark since, most recently going 26-34 in 2020 and 65-97 in 2021. Unfortunately, the team went 55-107 and 71-91 in 2022 and 2023 respectively. They finished fifth in the NL East division rankings in the last three seasons.
This franchise has played in four stadiums, two in Montreal, Jarry Park Stadium (1969-76) and Olympic Stadium (1977-2004), and two in DC, RFK Stadium (2005-07) and Nationals Park (2008-present).
