The Sacramento Kings are one of the oldest NBA teams in existence – possibly the oldest team in the NBA – having been founded in 1923.
They’ve been through several moves during this time, having started in Rochester, New York, as the Seagrams. The team then experienced three name changes as they moved to Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Omaha.
In 1985, the Kings moved to Sacramento, where they’ve been ever since. Fans in Sacramento have embraced them, so it seems they have finally found their home. If you’re a fan, keep reading to learn how to watch the entire Sacramento Kings’ NBA season online without cable.
By the end of the guide, you’ll be able to choose the right service for you, so you can stream the Kings online.
The main channel you need to watch the Kings is NBC Sports California. This regional sports network (RSN) will air the majority of the Kings’ local games for those within the broadcast area (California, parts of Oregon, western Nevada, and Hawaii).
If you live outside this region, you can sign up to NBA League Pass to watch the same coverage, or check out our NBA out-of-market game guide for other options.
Like all NBA teams, most games air on a local, regional channel, and then a variety of nationwide games air on other channels – either exclusively or simulcast.
You can watch NBA games that are nationally featured on ESPN, ABC, TNT, and NBA TV. In total, 22 Kings games will be broadcast nationally this season:
No Kings games will be aired on ABC or Fox this year.
You don’t need to worry about streaming the Sacramento Kings games without cable, because all three channels airing the nationally broadcast games are easily found on most streaming services.
Most of the providers we mention here also offer NBC Sports California for all the local games too.
Having just that one channel (NBC Sports California) means you get most of the Kings games this season – and Fubo and Hulu + Live TV both offer it. Those streaming providers also offer at least two of the other necessary national channels (Fubo is just missing TNT and Hulu doesn’t have NBA TV).
No matter which service from this guide you choose, you’ll be able to watch most (or all) of the Sacramento Kings’ season without cable.
The first step in streaming is to find the service that works best for you. Once you’ve signed up, you can then use your trial period to check things out before you even have to pay.
To start streaming you just need a streaming device. You can use Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, mobile devices, and more. You just turn on your device, start up your streaming service, and choose what you want to watch.
Fubo (formerly FuboTV) might be one of the cheapest ways to watch the Kings games, featuring 185+ channels for $94.98/month. These include ABC, ESPN, NBC Sports Bay Area, and NBC Sports California.
You can get NBA TV with Fubo Extra and Sports Plus. NBA League Pass is also available as an add-on for Kings fans out of state.
More Fubo details:
Although it is a bit more expensive, DIRECTV’s Choice Package for $64.99/month allows you to watch every Kings game of the regular season.
It includes NBC Sports California, NBA TV, ESPN, and TNT, while out-of-market fans can add on NBA League Pass as well.
More DIRECTV details:
Hulu + Live TV is another good choice for Kings fans.

It doesn’t provide NBA TV, but that’s all it’s missing, so you’ll still get the vast majority of Kings games throughout the NBA season.
Hulu Live offers 95+ channels for $82.99/month. This also includes Disney+, ESPN+, and the Hulu on-demand library.
Here’s more on Hulu Live:
Hulu Live has something for everyone, whether you want live or on-demand content. Optional add ons allow for specific customization, and you’ll be free to watch from just about anywhere on most popular streaming devices.
Here are some more services that offer some or all of the channels you’ll need to stream Kings games:

Unless otherwise indicated, games will be available on NBC Sports California and NBA League Pass.

Fubo ended up being my top pick for watching Sacramento Kings games because it just checks all the right boxes. The channel lineup is stacked – NBC Sports California for local games, ESPN for the big matchups – plus over 150 other channels to keep things interesting. The streaming quality never let me down, and the cloud DVR is a lifesaver when I can’t watch live. It’s super easy to use, and I love that I can watch on just about any device, whether I’m home or out and about. I tried others like Hulu + Live TV and DIRECTV, but Fubo’s sports-first approach and solid features make it the clear winner for Kings fans who want a seamless, reliable way to follow the team.
Sports 1140 KHTK lets fans in the Sacramento area listen to Kings games. These broadcasts are also available on the station’s Audacy page.
This station has been the radio home of the team since 1994. Gary Gerould is the familiar voice behind the mic courtside; he has called Kings games since 1985.
Most popular streaming services offer potential subscribers a free trial. These include Fubo and DIRECTV, which provide access to NBC Sports California and the other channels required to watch the Kings games.
This means fans can sign up to Fubo or DIRECTV and watch the Sacramento Kings for free during their trial period.
