The 2023 Camellia Bowl sees a matchup between the Sun Belt and Mid-American conferences. For the Sun Belt Conference, we have Arkansas State. The Red Wolves had a mediocre season this year, ending third in the West Division of the SBC with a record of 6-6 (4-4 in-conference).
Northern Illinois represented the MAC. They managed second in the West Division, also with a 6-6 record but a better 5-3 in-conference record.

Butch Jones has been head coach of the Red Wolves for three seasons where he’s slowly rebuilt the team with offensive coordinator Keith Heckendorf and defensive coordinator Rob Harley.
Quarterback Jaylen Raynor leads the offense with running backs Ja’Quez Cross and Zak Wallace, wide receivers Courtney Jackson, Corey Rucker, and Jeff Foreman, and tight end Miller McCrumby (Emmanual Stevenson is injured).
On defense, the Red Wolves have linebackers Charles Willekes, Javante Mackey, and Melique Straker, defensive backs Samy Johnson, Leon Jones, Justin Hodges, Trevian Thomas, and Justin Parks, and linemen Thurman Geathers, Keyron Crawford, and Nate Martey.
Northern Illinois Huskies Personnel
Head coach Thomas Hammock has been with the Huskies for five seasons. With him are offensive coordinator Eric Eidsness and defensive coordinator Derrick Jackson.
The Huskies’ offense is led by quarterback Rocky Lombardi with running back Antario Brown, wide receivers Trayvon Rudolph, Kacper Rutkiewicz, Grayson Barnes, and Davis Patterson, and tight end Christion Carter.
The defense features linebackers Jaden Dolphin, Tyler Jackson, and DaRon Gilbert, defensive backs Jashon Prophete, Javaughn Byrd, Jacob Finley, and Nate Valcarcel, and linemen Raishein Thomas, James Ester,George Gumbs, Devonte O’Malley, and Roy Williams.
