As a sports fan, I’ve found that ESPN Deportes offers much more than Spanish-language programming. While watching, I’ve discovered excellent sports coverage that isn’t available on other networks. Even better, I can access all this content without a cable subscription.
In a hurry? A number of streaming services allow you to add ESPN Deportes to their English-language plans. Here are our favorite options:
- Fubo: The best streaming service for international sports also provides 150+ well-selected channels. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.
- DIRECTV STREAM: Get a great channel lineup with the best selection of RSNs in the industry. A 5-day free trial is now available for DIRECTV STREAM.
- Sling TV: This low-cost service allows you to select just the channel lineup you want. Save 50% on Sling TV now.
If you can’t watch your favorite sports because of your location, get ExpressVPN to access the content you deserve.
Table Of Contents
ESPN Deportes provides much of the same programming that is available on other ESPN-related channels but with Spanish-language commentary, perfect for those who prefer that language. This even includes the Super Bowl in some years, such as for Super Bowl LV in February 2021, which was broadcast on CBS as well.
It is also a channel that is easy for cord cutters to access as several streaming services provide it. These include Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, FuboTV, and DIRECTV STREAM.
What Is ESPN Deportes?
ESPN Deportes got its start in 2000, four years before it launched as a full channel. During those first four years, it focused on live sports offerings on Sunday evenings (eg, Sunday Night Football and Sunday Night Baseball). It also showed events such as boxing matches and the Home Run Derby.
Live Sports
Today, ESPN Deportes’ live sports offerings are extensive with many serving as visual simulcasts of contests that are also airing with English-language commentary on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2.
ESPN Deportes continues to broadcast Sunday Night Baseball and other MLB games, including postseason contests. It also shows the Caribbean Series and the Little League World Series (Sling Guide).
Its football broadcasts are highlighted by its showing of Monday Night Football games throughout the season and some postseason contests, including the Super Bowl in select years. ESPN Deportes broadcasts a wide selection of college football games, including the College Football Playoff, as well.
ESPN Deportes’ basketball offerings focus on the NBA Finals and the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
With ESPN having access to the NHL with the 2022-23 season (and playoffs), that means that hockey games are now being shown on ESPN Deportes as well. This started with an opening night doubleheader that featured the Tampa Bay Lightning versus the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Seattle Kraken against the Vegas Golden Knights.
With all of that said, its soccer coverage is where this channel shines as it provides live broadcasts of matches from several competitions to its viewers. In North America, this includes MLS, USL Championship, Liga MX, Ascenso MX, and Copa MX. European competitions that it broadcasts include La Liga, Copa del Rey, Bundesliga, and DFB-Pokal. It also provides coverage of FIFA World Cup qualifying, the International Champions Cup, and the A-League.
But that is not the limit of its coverage, since it offers content from tennis’ Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, golf’s The Masters, UFC, and Top Rank Boxing as well. Formula 1 is also well-covered — see our Sling TV guide, schedule, Top 10 Circuits, and Miami Grand Prix spotlight.
Shows
ESPN Deportes also provides plenty of programming unrelated to live game broadcasts.
One is its Spanish-language version of SportsCenter. The channel broadcasts Los Capitanes, an hour-long afternoon show devoted to current sports happenings, as well.
Meanwhile, those looking for discussions on Mexican soccer, in particular, should tune into Futbol Picante. Other popular shows include Cronometro, Ahora o Nunca, A Los Golpes, and Jorge Ramos y Su Banda.
Streaming ESPN Deportes
ESPN Deportes is widely available through a number of live TV streaming services although you will need to purchase an add-on in some cases to secure access to it. The only major exception is YouTube TV, which does not currently offer ESPN Deportes. For information more generally on watching ESPN without cable, see our guide.
FuboTV
You have a few FuboTV-related options available to you that will grant you access to ESPN Deportes.
The FuboTV base plan ($79.99/month) comes with 110+ sports-heavy channels. It also comes with all the local channels (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, Telemundo, Univision). You can combine that with its International Sports Plus add-on ($6.99/mo), which includes 16 channels such as Fox Deportes, Fox Soccer Plus, and GOL TV. Coverage of CONMEBOL’s World Cup qualifying matches is included as well.
Another option is that same base plan combined with FuboTV’s Latino Plus add-on ($19.99/mo). Other channels included with this add-on include Fox Deportes, GOL TV, and general-interest offerings.
The most affordable option on a per-month basis is its Latino Quarterly plan ($32.99/month), but it must be paid for three months at a time. It offers beIN Sports, beIN Sports en Español, Univision, UniMas, TUDN, Galavision, GOL TV, and Fox Deportes.

Sling TV
Although Sling TV does not offer ESPN Deportes in either its Orange or Blue plans, the cost to add it is nominal. You will need to secure its Orange plan ($40.00/month) and combine that with its Best of Spanish TV add-on ($5/mo).
The former offers channels ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and Disney Channel while the latter includes beIN Sports en Español and beIN Sports Connect, which feature Ligue 1 and Coupe de France matches.
Sling offers many options for additional channels including its Sports Extra for $11, which comes with 14 top sports stations. See our Sling TV review for details.
DIRECTV STREAM
The most affordable way to get ESPN Deportes through DIRECTV STREAM (formerly AT&T TV) is by getting its Entertainment plan ($86.99/month) and combining that with its Deportes add-on ($5/mo).
That base plan includes channels such as ESPN, ESPN2, and FS1 although you may want to consider getting its Choice plan ($114.99/month) instead, which also includes all regional sports networks that are available in your area in addition to channels such as ESPNU, MLB Network, and NBA TV.
The channels included in the Deportes add-on are ESPN Deportes, Fox Deportes, Univision Deportes, and TyC Sports. You could also consider getting its Español add-on ($15/mo) instead, which features those four channels in addition to Univision, Discovery Channel en Español, Cinelatino, and Estrella TV.
DIRECTV STREAM comes with an impressive infrastructure: unlimited cloud DVR and streaming on unlimited devices at once. Read more in our DIRECTV STREAM review.
Hulu + Live TV
Hulu + Live TV ($82.99/month) offers a great streaming in addition to access to ESPN+, Disney+, and it’s exceptional on-demand library. It comes with 85+ live channels. These include Fox Sports 1 (FS1) and Fox Sports 2 (FS2) along with the major ESPN channels including ESPNews, ESPNU, and NCAA conference channels ACC Network and SEC Network.
Get Hulu + Live TV for $59.99 Monthly
To get ESPN Deportes, you will need the Hulu Live TV Español add-on ($4.99/mo). The add-on provides you with seven additional channels, including Fox Deportes and Universo.
For more information, see our Hulu + Live TV review.
ESPN App
ESPN Deportes’ programming is available through the ESPN app as well. This not only includes what is being broadcast on ESPN Deportes at any given time but also matchups that it has the rights to but are only available online due to ESPN Deportes showing a different sporting event at that time.
Note that you still need a TV provider to access this through TV Everywhere.

Wrapping Up
You have several options available to you if you want to enjoy cordless access to ESPN Deportes. Which one is best depends on what you are looking for, both in regards to its price as well as the other TV channels that it offers.
Sports fans are probably best off with FuboTV — either the English or the Spanish plan. Sling TV is the way to go if cost is a major issue. Hulu + Live TV is an exceptional service that you can add a handful of Spanish channels to. The same goes for DIRECTV STREAM.
