I really need to cut the cord to watch the ISU Cyclones since most of their games are streaming only. Let me explain all the details below.
In a hurry? Most of the men’s and women’s Cyclones games are streamed on ESPN+, so we recommend Hulu + Live TV for Iowa State fans because it includes ESPN+ in the base subscription. But if you want to stick with live TV channels, check out these services:

Iowa State Cyclones Basketball men’s team was founded in 1907, and the women’s team in 1973. Since the founding dates, fans have enjoyed watching their favorite team take the courts for some historical wins and championship games. The men’s team won a total of 14 Conference Championships, and the women have won three Conference Championships since they debuted.
They continue to push their rivals to the limits, whether they win or lose, to this day. There is no doubt they put on a good show and are one of the most respected teams to hit the court.
Iowa State Cyclones in the March Madness Tournament
We now have a full picture of March Madness 2024. The Iowa State Cyclones’ women’s team had a disappointing season but then caught fire at the end, even beating Kansas State and going all the way to the Big 12 Conference finals. As a result, they made the tournament.
There was never any real doubt about the men’s team that won the Big 12 championship and ended the season ranked 4th in the Coaches and AP Top 25 rankings.

The Legacy and History of Iowa State Cyclones Basketball
Iowa State is the rare school to have both its men’s and women’s teams ranked in the top 25.
The name Cyclones goes back to 1895 when many tornadoes hit the state. After the heavy devastation, the name stuck with the university. Its mascot is “Cy the Mascot,” which is short for cyclone. It remained the mascot until 1954 when a cardinal was chosen because finding a costume to keep updating over the years was challenging.
The cardinal became the athletics mascot which depicted the school’s colors and is still the mascot at present. The team plays its home games in the Hilton Coliseum, which seats 14,267 fans in Ames, Iowa, and opened in 1971.
Their biggest rival is the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. The competitions get heated throughout basketball and their other sports teams.
Iowa State Cyclones Men’s Basketball: Team Insights and Analysis
Since the beginning of the 1907-08 season, the men’s basketball team has appeared 22 times in the NCAA tournaments, with 21 wins and 22 losses. They made it to the Final Four once in their history (1944), but did not go all the way.
The men’s head coach is TJ Otzelberger, and the top players are Keshon Gilbert (points per game leader), Tamin Lipsey (assists/steals), Tre King (rebounds), and Robert Jones (blocks).
Although they have fallen a bit on the rankings, they are still consistently in the top 25.
Iowa State Cyclones Women’s Basketball: Team Insights and Analysis
Since the beginning of the 1973-74 season, the women’s basketball team won three titles, two of which were tournament wins. They have reached the NCAA tournament Elite Eight twice, the last time in 2009.
The women’s head coach is Bill Fennelly, who is coaching his 28th season. The top players in the women’s division are Audi Crooks, Addy Brown, and Kelsey Joens.

Our Choice
After testing a bunch of services, Hulu + Live TV came out on top for Cyclones fans. It’s the only one that includes both live ESPN channels and ESPN+ in the base package – a game-changer if you want every Iowa State matchup, including streaming-only games. The interface is smooth, the stream is reliable, and it works on pretty much any device. Other services, like Fubo and Sling, have ESPN, but they don’t throw in ESPN+, which means you’d be missing some key games. With solid coverage, extra features, and the best overall value, Hulu + Live TV is the easy pick for following the Cyclones all season.
FAQs
What is Big 12 Now?
Big 12 Now is not really a channel or streaming service. It’s kind of a subsection of ESPN+ for fans of the Big 12 Conference teams. You will often see it referred to as “Big 12 Now on ESPN+.” It’s a convenient place where Big 12 fans can go in the ESPN app to find games. So in the schedule above, BIG12 simply refers to this. It’s all the same. It’s all ESPN+.
