UCF Knights Personnel

This is Gus Malzahn’s third season as head coach of the Knights. He calls on the support of defensive coordinator Addison Williams and offensive coordinator Darin Hinshaw as his aides.

What is the history of the Gasparilla Bowl?

The Gasparilla Bowl game was first played in 2008 at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, when it was called the St. Petersburgh Bowl. Bowl games are a type of NCAA postseason football games, and are called such because they’re played in stadiums that resemble bowl shapes.

In 2017, it was renamed the Gasparilla Bowl, after a fictional Tampa Bay pirate. The game moved to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in 2018.
