About Georgia Bulldogs Football Team

Fans who have watched the Georgia Bulldogs play over the years have been enthralled by the exploits of players such as Champ Bailey, Frank Tarkenton, Herschel Walker, and Hines Ward. UGA players have been led by an illustrious selection of head coaches, which includes Wally Butts, Vince Dooley, Mark Richt, and Pop Warner.

Georgia is No 1 in the 2024 preseason rankings, having gone 13-1 in 2023. This included an overpowering defeat of the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl.

Georgia won the final two of their four national titles in 2021 and 2022. The other claimed titles came in 1942 and 1980, and the school also has four national titles that it doesn’t claim, with the most recent in 1968.

In addition to the national championships, the school has won 16 conference and 13 division titles. The program has won 38 bowl games and made a postseason appearance every year since 1997.

The Bulldogs play home games at Sanford Stadium on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia.

Will the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs Be Kirby Smart’s Best Team Yet?

Georgia spent most of the year as the top overall team in the country. However, a 27-24 loss to Alabama in the SEC title game relegated them to the Gator Bowl where they obliterated Florida State 63-3.

Head coach Kirby Smart looks to avenge last year’s team and chase another national championship. Mike Bobo is the team’s offensive coordinator while Glenn Schumann is the leader on the defensive side of the ball.

As often happens to top college teams, the Bulldogs lost lots of talent to the NFL this offseason. Tight end Brock Bowers was taken 13th overall while offensive tackle Amarius Mims was taken just five picks later. During Kirby Smart’s tenure, 17 Bulldogs have been taken in the first round, which means he has more first-round picks than losses in his career.

Georgia will have several big games this season to help boost their resume. Those include trips to Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss during the conference part of their schedule. They will also start the year against Clemson in the Kickoff Classic in Atlanta.

Who are Georgia’s rivals?

Georgia’s in-state rival is Georgia Tech. Along with UGA, they’re the biggest football programs and athletics departments in the Peach State, and both football teams close out their regular seasons with a contest versus the other on Thanksgiving weekend. The host team alternates every year, with the showdown played in Athens on even-numbered years.

The Dawgs also have several heated match-ups with SEC opposition, particularly the Florida Gators and Auburn Tigers. The former dates back to 1892 (known as the “Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry”) and the latter (the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party”) is played annually in Jacksonville, FL with each team’s fans comprising half the crowd.

Georgia also has rivalries with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers, and Vanderbilt Commodores.

FAQs

How can I watch the Georgia Bulldogs football game for free?

With an antenna, several Georgia Bulldogs games can be watched for free, as many of the team’s games will be over-the-air broadcasts on ABC. This option allows fans to watch the SEC Championship Game, but not any College Football Playoff games, as these are shown on ESPN. Prepaying for two or three months of Sling TV often comes with a free antenna.

Many streaming services provide a free trial for new users (eg, Fubo or DIRECTV STREAM), during which Bulldogs fans can watch any games that air.

What is the cheapest way to stream Georgia Bulldogs games?

Fans with an antenna and within a coverage region can watch Georgia Bulldogs football games that air on ABC for free. Those without antennas, or outside an ABC affiliate area, can still stream every Georgia Bulldogs game online using a streaming service. The cheapest option is with Sling TV’s Orange plan ($40.00/month), though it’s also possible to sign up for one of the services above that offers a free trial (eg, Fubo or DIRECTV STREAM).

How can I watch the Tennessee-Georgia football game?

The Tennessee-Georgia football game will be on November 16, 2024, though (at the time of writing) a time and channel has yet to be confirmed. Since Georgia Bulldog games will air on either ABC or an ESPN network channel, and as the rivalry game usually draws a lot of attention, it’s most likely to be on ABC or ESPN.

Can I watch UGA football on ESPN+?

Some Georgia Bulldogs games will air exclusively online with ESPN+ ($10.99/month). There’s no need to pay extra for ESPN+ though, as these games will also be available through SECN+. Subscribers to a streaming service plan that offers the SEC Network should be able to access the exclusive online games with SECN+ through the ESPN+ app, using the same sign-in details.

Is it worth signing up for Sling for the season?

Sling is one of the cheapest streaming services available. It’s also one of the most customizable, so it’s worth considering signing up to Sling TV for the college football season (and possibly beyond). The Orange plan with the Sports Extra add-on includes everything fans need to watch Georgia Bulldogs football games: ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 (for ABC games), and SEC Network. See our full guide to Sling TV here.

Does Fubo have channels like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC?

Fubo has live, local channels such as ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, as well as The CW, Telemundo, Univision, UniMas, myNetwork TV, and Cozi TV. These are included with any of Fubo’s plans, but availability depends on the subscriber’s location. Those within a coverage region of these channels’ local affiliates should be able to watch them with Fubo.
