About the Pocono 400

The Pocono 400 (also called the HighPoint.com 400), the 26th competition of the 31-race regular season, lasts 160 laps for a total of 400 miles.

Its location, Pocono Raceway, has played host to NASCAR and other types of car races since 1974, three years after it opened. Interestingly, it will only welcome this one Cup Series race this season after having played host to two every year since 1982.

The Tricky Triangle is known for its memorable corners and long straightaways, causing drivers to need to display various skills in order to be successful here. The track was designed by Rodger Ward and has a three turn configuration. Turn one has a 14 degree banking modeled after Trenton Speedway, turn two has a 8 degree banking modeled after Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and turn three has a 6 degree banking modeled after Milwaukee Mile.

Current racer Denny Hamlin and retired driver Bill Elliott share the record for most wins at this track with four apiece.
