About YellaWood 500
The YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama is the 109th race in Cup Series history. The 2.66-mile oval, the largest on the NASCAR schedule, features high turns, tri-oval, and backstretch banking. Teamwork is crucial for drivers to succeed in the draft. This pressure-filled event is the second race of the Round of 12 in the Cup Series Playoffs.
Bubba Wallace made history in 2021 by becoming the first African-American driver since Wendell Scott to win at Talladega. Dale Earnhardt holds the record with 10 wins, 23 top 5’s, and 27 top 10 finishes. The track, opening in 1969, hosted the inaugural Cup Series race in ’69, won by Richard Brickhouse.
