Stream the YES Network Live With DIRECTV STREAM
If you would like to get online-only access to the YES Network, you need to get DIRECTV STREAM (formerly AT&T TV). It is a live TV streaming service that provides all the channels you associate with cable.
Note that its Entertainment plan ($74.99/mo) does not offer any RSNs. You should select, at a minimum, its Choice Package ($99.99/mo).
With Choice, you will also get sports programming from the Big Ten Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and Fox Sports 1 (FS1). Those who bump up to its Ultimate plan ($109.99/mo) will also get CBS Sports Network and FS2.
You will also receive other RSNs. Which ones will depend on where you are located. For example, subscribers in New York City will also get the MSG Network and SportsNet New York.
Those in Buffalo, NY, can watch those same channels and AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and Bally Sports Great Lakes. Subscribers in Hartford, CT, will get the MSG Network, SportsNet New York, NESN, and NBC Sports Boston in addition to the YES Network.
Additionally, DIRECTV STREAM provides a large on-demand library and an unlimited DVR (stored for up to 9 months). And it allows you to stream on up to 20 devices at home and 3 away. For more information, see our detailed DIRECTV STREAM review.

Alternatives to YES Network and DIRECTV STREAM
If you are situated in its broadcast area and want to access the YES Network while avoiding cable, you do not have any alternatives to subscribing to DIRECTV STREAM.
However, non-DIRECTV STREAM subscribers can still catch around 20 Yankees games a season through PIX11, which you can access through an antenna or an Amazon Prime subscription. Plus, that team is shown on Fox (also accessible with an antenna) at least a few times a season. All Yankees World Series games will be broadcast on Fox as well.
Additionally, the Nets are sometimes shown on ABC on a national basis and the Liberty may have games on ABC or CBS.
Now, if you would like to garner cordless access to these teams’ nationally broadcast games through a different streaming service, consider Hulu + Live TV ($69.99/mo), FuboTV ($74.99/mo), Vidgo ($69.99/mo), and Sling TV ($40.00/mo).
Meanwhile, those who are situated outside of their favorite team’s blackout areas can watch out-of-market YES Network broadcasts through a subscription to:
- MLB.TV ($24.99);
- NBA League Pass ($28.99/mo);
- WNBA League Pass ($24.99/yr);
- or ESPN+ ($9.99/mo).
The latter provides access to out-of-market NHL games and a significant number of other sporting events.
Devices and TVs to Live Stream YES Network
There is no need for you and your friends to huddle around a computer screen with DIRECTV STREAM. You can watch YES Network on most devices in use.
All the popular “stick” devices are fully supported: Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku. And if you want, you can watch on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. You can also cast to your TV using these devices as well as Chrome web browsers via Chromecast. Recent model Samsung and Android TV-compatible smart TVs are supported directly.
If you want, you can get a device from DIRECTV STREAM itself. It’s a bit expensive ($120 or $5/mo), but it can make the whole process of switching from cable easier.
You can also use your DIRECTV STREAM account with TV Everywhere. This way, you can watch on the YES Network app or directly through its website, yesnetwork.com. But this doesn’t seem to offer any devices that DIRECTV STREAM doesn’t offer directly.
Unfortunately, at this time, YES Network is not available on any gaming devices (eg, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo). DIRECTV STREAM currently only supports the bare minimum in terms of device support.

What Is YES Network?
The Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network is a regional sports network (RSN), meaning that its broadcasts are only offered to viewers in its broadcast area or to those who watch its out-of-market broadcasts through a subscription to a service such as MLB.TV ($24.99/mo).
Where Is YES Network Available?
YES Network’s broadcast area stretches across all of New York State and Connecticut and into portions of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
In New Jersey, not included are communities near Philadelphia and cities otherwise in the southern part of the state, such as Atlantic City.
Northeast Pennsylvania communities Scranton and Honesdale are included, but Allentown and Bethlehem are not.

What Sports Teams Does YES Network Cover?
The primary focuses of YES Network are the New York Yankees (MLB) and Brooklyn Nets (NBA). It also broadcasts several matches played by the New York Liberty (WNBA).
The Yankees and Nets were initially brought on board when YES Network was launched in 2002. The New York Liberty became part of the network in 2019.
However, Yankees fans should take into account that around 10-15% of the team’s games will instead be shown on PIX11, an affiliate of The CW that is not available through DIRECTV STREAM. To access those broadcasts, you would need to pay for Amazon Prime Video or use an antenna.
Note that YES Network doesn’t seem to carry any Spring Training games of the Yankees.
With that said, all locally produced Nets broadcasts will be available for viewing through a DIRECTV STREAM subscription. The same is mostly true for New York Liberty games, the exceptions being contests that are instead only streamed on the YES app and then broadcast on that channel on a tape-delay basis.
Much of the YES Network’s non-game programming revolves around those aforementioned teams. Yankees-related examples of these types of programs include History of the Yankees, Yankees Magazine, Homegrown: The Path to Pinstripes, and The Michael Kay Show. Programming unrelated to its teams involves sports as varied as golf and boxing.
What Sports Teams Does YES Network Not Cover?
You will need to head elsewhere to watch locally produced games played by other New York City-area teams.
The New York Mets (MLB) are shown on SportsNet New York. The New York Knicks (NBA), New York Rangers (NHL), New York Islanders (NHL), New Jersey Devils (NHL), and New York Red Bulls (MLS) are all broadcast on the MSG Network.
The New York Jets (NFL) and New York Giants (NFL) are not shown on any RSNs as all of their games are either broadcast nationally on a variety of networks or shown on CBS or Fox on a regional basis.
Other sporting events are shown although not necessarily live. They show occasional Manchester United (Premier League) soccer matches, for example.
The Yankees have 7 development teams: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Somerset Patriots, Hudson Valley Renegades, Tampa Tarpons, FCL Yankees, FCL Yankees West, and DSL Yankees East. YES will occasionally air games.
YES used to feature the Staten Island Yankees before the Class A Short Season was eliminated. In its place, the recently formed Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB), even though they are not affiliated with the Yankees.
In addition, note that local NCAA Division I sports programs are rarely shown on the YES Network. Although that channel does show college sporting events, those generally involve teams from other areas.

YES2
If the Brooklyn Nets play at the same time as the New York Yankees, the Nets game will be shown on YES2, a channel that is only used for those game broadcasts. These conflicts are most apt to occur in April.
YES Network Commentators
Most New York Yankees broadcasts include play-by-play commentary from Michael Kay while Ryan Ruocco replaces Kay on occasion. Meanwhile, David Cone and Paul O’Neill split the analyst position.
Brooklyn Nets telecasts feature Ian Eagle and Ryan Ruocco doing play-by-play, Sarah Kustok and Richard Jefferson serving as analysts.
YES Network Shows
Many RSNs don’t offer much besides the league games and pre- and post-game shows. YES Network is a big exception to this. They offer a number of original shows including:
- Brooklyn Nets Magazine: Stories and discussion about the NBA team.
- CenterStage With Michael Kay: Onstage talk show featuring sports celebrities like former Mets and Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltrán.
- Forbes SportsMoney: Show about the financial side of sports.
- The Michael Kay Show: TV feed of the radio call-in show by the Yankees’ play-by-play announcer.
- Yankeeography: Biographies of Yankee greats from the past.
- Yankees Batting Practice Today: Gameday coverage of batting practice along with analysis.
- Yankees Classics: Rebroadcasts of old games. (Maybe listed as MLB Baseball Classics.)
- Yankees Magazine: Stories and discussions about the MLB team.
They also feature one-off documentaries about subjects of interest to New York sports fans and purchased shows like Swing Clinic.

FAQs
Does Hulu provide YES Network with its live TV plan?
Hulu + Live TV does not offer YES Network. Yankees fans have only one streaming alternative: DIRECTV STREAM. Its Choice Package for $99.99/mo offers 100+ channels including YES Network to subscribers in the greater New York area. Mets fans are in luck, however, since Hulu does offer SportsNet New York.
Can I get YES Network from YouTube TV?
YES Network does not come with YouTube TV. Like Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV offers very few regional sports networks. These consist only of the NBC Sports channels and SportsNet New York. You can get all the details on how to watch in our MLB Viewer’s Guide.
Is YES Network on FuboTV?
FuboTV does not currently offer YES Network in its channel lineup. But this could change. Unlike Hulu and YouTube, FuboTV has been adding regional sports networks over the past year. And YES Network would be an obvious addition. Meanwhile, FuboTV offers the same RSNs are Hulu and YouTube and a number of others. But DIRECTV STREAM is still the only choice for the vast majority of RSNs.
Does Sling TV have YES Network?
Sling TV does not have YES Network or any other regional sports network. If it did, we’d be living in Harry McClintock’s utopian “Big Rock Candy Mountain.” Sadly, Sling TV’s low prices pretty much assure that it will never offer RSNs since they are among the most expensive channels to license. So we will all have to turn to DIRECTV STREAM or, maybe in the future, FuboTV.
Can I subscribe to YES Network directly?
Currently, YES Network does not offer a direct-to-consumer streaming service. This could, however, change. Both NESN and Bally Sports are now offering their own services. And given that only DIRECTV STREAM offers the channel, it may well make sense to start a service. But for the time, you cannot get YES directly.

Does YES Network broadcast New York City FC matches?
YES Network used to broadcast NYCFC matches. But as of 2023, all MLS teams including NYC FC are distributed through MLS Season Pass. It is like other “league pass” subscriptions except that there are no blackouts. So you can watch every teams’ matches no matter where you are.
