When the regular season comes to an end, the postseason commences with the Wild Card Weekend on January 13th, 2024. After the first round of the playoffs is played, the top seed will play the lowest remaining seed at home in the second round. The two other teams will then be paired with each other, and the higher seed among those teams will serve as the host for that game.
For example, if the second, third, and fourth seed won their opening games, the number one seed would play the number four seed in the second round. The number two seed would then play the number three seed at home.
The winners of those matchups would then play in the AFC title game for the right to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. As usual, the higher seed would serve as the home team for that game.
The very first AFC Championship title game was played in the year 1970 during the regular season after a merger between the NFL and the American Football League.
The NFL was comprised of 16 teams and the AFL of 10 teams. Therefore, a realignment was needed to create an equal number of teams for both conferences. NFL’s Baltimore Colts, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers ended up joining the 10 AFL teams to form the AFC and the remaining 13 NFL teams became the NFC.
The AFC title game will be played on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 3:00 pm EST. It will be broadcast on CBS, which is available through many streaming services. It is also available via antenna depending on location, and will be streamed on Paramount+.
There is still much we do not know about the 2024 AFC Championship game. We will be updating this information as it becomes available.
Depending on where you are located, you could put up an antenna and watch not just the AFC Championship game but almost all of the NFL playoffs. To learn how, see our HDTV antenna guide. It will tell you all you need to know. Check out Sling TV for a convenient way to integrate OTA and streaming TV.
It’s easier to go with a streaming service. These are our favorites:
The Fubo (formerly FuboTV) base service package is $79.99/month and comes with all the local channels such as CBS, NBC, and Fox. It also comes with ESPN (and much more), which will allow you to watch every game of the playoffs. You also get unlimited cloud DVR and the ability to stream on up to 10 devices at once.

YouTube TV costs $82.99/month a service similar to Hulu + Live TV. See our YouTube TV review for more.
You can likely watch the AFC Championship game on one or more devices you already own. The three services we highlighted here support all the following:
LG, Vizio, and Android TV-compatible smart TVs are supported by FuboTV and Hulu. Those two also support the Xbox One and Hulu alone supports the PlayStation.

The Kansas City Chiefs return for the AFC Championship game. And with them is a very powerful Baltimore Ravens team.
The Ravens are favored by 3.5 points with a modest total of 45.5 points expected.
The Ravens don’t have great stats on their passing game but that’s largely due to Lamar Jackson as a constant running threat. Overall, they have by far the best running game in the league.
The Chiefs have a very good passing defense as we saw in their Divisional game against the Buffalo Bills. But they have struggled defending the run.
On offense, the Chiefs are similar. They pass the ball well but have struggled rushing. But the Ravens have an excellent passing defense. It’s likely the Chiefs will try to run the ball against a weaker Ravens rushing defense.
For the AFC Championship, I highly recommend Fubo for its combination of streaming quality, channel selection, and unique perks. Unlike other services, Fubo provides a robust channel lineup including CBS and ESPN, ensuring you won’t miss a moment of the game or any other playoff action. Its unlimited cloud DVR feature is perfect for recording games to watch later, and the ability to stream on up to 10 devices makes it ideal for larger households or groups. Fubo’s international sports coverage is also a standout, giving it an edge for sports fans beyond the U.S. The user interface is intuitive, and streaming reliability is top-notch, offering seamless viewing with minimal interruptions. Overall, if you’re after a comprehensive, dependable service with great flexibility, Fubo’s your best bet for this game.
