How to Watch the Super Bowl Live
Times are good for cord-cutters. And that’s especially true when it comes to major events like the Super Bowl.
Fox has affiliates all over the nation that will be broadcasting the game over the air (OTA). So assuming you are reasonably near a tower (and almost everyone in the US is), you can watch the Super Bowl for free!
If a vision appeared in your mind of a low-resolution, static-fill screen, we understand! But that is not how things work anymore. Since TV went digital, you can pick up crystal-clear high definition signals that will look great on your big screen TV.
If you want to go with an antenna, we recommend signing up with Sling TV. If you pay for 3 months of service, they will give you an indoor HD antenna and AirTV 2 for just $49.99 (normally $149.99). With it, you will be able to get all your OTA channels in the same guide you have your streaming channels. It’s really the way to go!
Live TV Streaming Services
If you don’t want to deal with an antenna, you can watch the game using a variety of streaming services, which not only provide local channels but also cable TV channels. OTA channels like Fox are available with most major providers, and any streaming service that has sports channels has FS1.
The FuboTV base service package starts at $74.99/mo and offers well over 130 channels including local (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and others) as well as a decent selection of regional sports networks. This is in addition to its national sports channels like CBS Sports Network, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, FS2, and a couple dozen beIN sports and TUDN channels.
The DIRECTV STREAM Entertainment package starts at $74.99/mo, which represents a full-cable replacement service with roughly 80 channels. For $99.99/mo, you can upgrade to the DIRECTV STREAM Choice package, which offers access to a variety of additional national channels and the best selection of regional sports networks in the industry.
You get unlimited cloud DVR storage with DIRECTV STREAM, as long as you sign up online. It also provides you with streaming on unlimited devices. See our DIRECTV STREAM review for all the details.
Hulu + Live TV
Hulu + Live TV allows you to watch live sporting events that air on channels such as NBC and NBC Universo. The live TV package costs $69.99/mo for 85+ live TV channels. The channel selection mirrors very much what you expect from a cable subscription. And, bonus, you get Disney+ and ESPN+ included in your subscription!
You get unlimited cloud DVR with 9 months of storage and simultaneous streaming on two devices. Our Hulu + Live TV Super Bowl Guide has more information.
Other Streaming Services
There are other options for streaming the Super Bowl:
- Sling TV: If you live in a metropolitan area, Sling most likely provides Fox, but even if it doesn’t, Sling Blue includes Fox Sports 1. Our Sling TV review has more.
- YouTube TV: Offers a very similar service to Hulu + Live TV. See our YouTube TV review for more.
- NFL+: Replacing the NFL Game Pass, this $4.99/mo subscription offers local and primetime games — including the Super Bowl. Note that it’s only on your phone, and cannot be cast to a bigger screen.
Streaming Devices & TVs for the Super Bowl
No need for you and your friends to huddle around a web browser to watch the Super Bowl (unless you want to, of course!). All the streaming services we highlighted support: Amazon Fire TV, Android mobile, Apple TV, Chromecast, iOS, Roku, Samsung smart TVs, and, of course, web browsers.
You can use smart TVs by LG, Vizio, and devices based on Android TV with FuboTV and Hulu. And they support the Xbox One. The PlayStation is supported by Hulu.
See our streaming reviews for a complete list of supported devices.
4K & HDR Options
In 2023, Fox has the broadcast rights to the Super Bowl, and is going to air the Super Bowl in 4K, as long as you have a service (like FuboTV) that provides it. For the first time ever, Fox will also be streaming the Super Bowl in 4K on the Fox Sports app, which is available for all the major streaming devices.
You will, of course, need equipment that can stream and display 4K, access to the 4K signal, and an internet connection that can handle the larger bandwidth a UHD transmission requires.
Live Streaming the Super Bowl Outside the US
The easiest way to watch Super Bowl 57 if you’re a football fan outside the US (and not in China or Canada) is with the NFL Game Pass International, which lets you live stream every game — including the Super Bowl. See our full NFL Game Pass review for more info.
But if you just want to tune in for the Super Bowl, the Game Pass is probably a little pricey. In many countries, ESPN will be carrying the big game, but it varies by country. Other major carriers include the BBC (UK), Sky (UK and Ireland), Seven Network (Australia), DAZN (Canada, Japan, and parts of Europe), and Viasat Sport (the former Soviet Union, excluding Russia). Larger countries often have several options.

Super Bowl LVII Analysis
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC title and the right to play in Super Bowl LVII. The Eagles will take on the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 to earn the right to play for the Lombardi Trophy.
Let’s take a look at some highlights from the past season, players to watch for, and other key storylines that you should know about heading into the game.
How We Got Here
Philadelphia finished the regular season 14-3, which was good enough to win the NFC East and earn the top seed in the playoffs. Kansas City also finished 14-3, won the AFC West, and was the top seed on the AFC side of the playoff bracket. The Eagles were able to clinch the top spot thanks to wins over the Vikings and Cowboys in the regular season.
Kansas City obtained the top seed after Buffalo’s game against Cincinnati was canceled because of Damar Hamlin’s injury. This meant that Buffalo was only able to muster 13 wins and rendered the tiebreaker that Buffalo had over Kansas City meaningless.
Players to Watch For
As you might imagine, both teams rely on their quarterbacks to get things done on offense. Both Jalen Hurts of the Eagles and Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs are finalists for league MVP and were able to reach the Super Bowl despite suffering injuries late in the season.
After Sunday’s game against the Bengals, Travis Kelce is now second all-time in playoff receptions, yards, and touchdowns behind only Jerry Rice. He will likely be targeted whenever the Chiefs get inside the 20. Jalen Hurts will likely target receivers AJ Brown and Devonta Smith when looking to make big plays.
On defense, Kansas City will rely on Chris Jones and Nick Bolton to pressure the passer and slow down Philadelphia’s run game. Philadelphia has the edge in the secondary with stars such as Darius Slay and CJ Gardner-Johnson available to slow down Kansas City’s efficient passing offense.
Storylines to Pay Attention To
Kansas City coach Andy Reid is going up against the franchise that fired him roughly a decade ago. He took the Eagles to multiple NFC title games and a Super Bowl during his tenure as Philadelphia’s head coach. Both the Chiefs and Eagles have won Super Bowl titles since his departure and move to Kansas City.
This will be the first Super Bowl pitting members of the same family against each other. Travis Kelce’s brother Jason is the starting center for the Eagles and has been with the team since 2011.
This year’s Super Bowl is one of the most anticipated events of the year for sports fans as well as casual observers (who may just show up for the halftime show or the $6.5 million commercials). If you don’t have a cable subscription, you can watch Super Bowl 2023 with an antenna or by subscribing to a streaming service.
Watch Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles with FuboTV. FuboTV allows you to try out its service free for 7 days.

Who won the last Super Bowl?
Last year, Super Bowl LVI was a hard-fought game that came down to the final minute on Sunday, February 13 at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and receiver Ja’Marr Chase (former college teammates) made a great offensive duo. But the Los Angeles Rams staged an incredible comeback in the last two minutes of the game.
This final drive was led by quarterback Matthew Stafford. Receiver Cooper Kupp’s fourth-down conversion on the final drive clinched the 23-20 victory for the Rams, and earned him Super Bowl MVP.
What teams have won the most Super Bowls?
As we head into Super Bowl LVII, the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots have won six Super Bowl championships, which is the most in the league. The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are tied for the second-most championships in NFL history, with five titles each. Green Bay and the New York Giants are next on the list of most successful franchises, with four titles in the Super Bowl era.
However, New England has appeared in 11 championship games, which is the most in league history. They are followed by the Steelers, Cowboys, and Broncos with 8 each.
Tom Brady leads all players with 10 title game appearances and seven titles. Bill Belichick has appeared as coach in 12 Super Bowl games as a coach. And Gale Gilbert has the record for the most consecutive appearances with 5 despite only playing 8 seasons total. He was on the losing team each time.
Over the last decade, the New England Patriots have won the most Super Bowls with 3. No other team has one more than one. But two of those teams are the Philadelphia Eagles (2018) and Kansas City Chiefs (2020).
On the other end of the spectrum, the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans have never advanced to the Super Bowl. But these last two teams have not been in the league all that long.
When was the first Super Bowl?
The first Super Bowl was played on Jan 15, 1967. In 1966, the leaders of the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League agreed that the two entities should merge into a single league. Although the two leagues wouldn’t officially join forces until the 1969 season, the first game to determine a true world champion would take place in January 1967.
You can learn more about sports streaming in our guide – how to watch sports online. This guide and others will give you the details you need to get rid of cable and still enjoy your favorite shows at a price you can afford. Oh, and just in case – don’t miss the Puppy Bowl either!
Who played in the first Super Bowl?
The first Championship in 1967 featured the AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs taking on the NFL champion Green Bay Packers in Los Angeles. Green Bay would win the game by a score of 35-10, and Packers quarterback Bart Starr was named the game’s most valuable player.
This game would feature a total of 21 players, coaches, and administrators who would eventually be enshrined at the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton.
That first Super Bowl was also the only one that was broadcast by two networks. This occurred because NBC had the rights to show games featuring AFL teams, while CBS had the rights to show games featuring NFL teams. Today, broadcast rights are awarded to networks several years before a given game takes place.
This year, the game is airing on Fox, FS1, and Fox Deportes. It is streaming on the Fox Sports app.
Where did the Super Bowl get its name?
The term Super Bowl was used for the first time by Lamar Hunt in the 1960s, and there are several theories as to why that name was chosen for this game. However, the leading theory is that Hunt saw his child playing with a toy called Super Ball, and it inspired him to say Super Bowl.
At the time, it was widely expected that the game would receive a new name once a better one could be found. However, the popularity of the game meant that changing the name would have caused a significant amount of damage to its brand.
When does the Super Bowl halftime show start?
Even if the game is a dud, there’s always the halftime show, which people will talk about for months. In 2022, it featured a number of stars: Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. For most people, the Super Bowl is a good excuse for a party regardless of the game. And again, we are expecting a good one!
Is the Super Bowl on Amazon Prime Video?
The Super Bowl is not currently available on Amazon Prime Video. Fox is airing the Super Bowl in 2023, and it does not, at this time, have a streaming app available through Prime Video. If it did, it would probably have an extra subscription cost and not be included with your Prime Video/Amazon Prime subscription.
You can tune in to regular season games exclusively on Prime Video on Thursday Night Football.
Is the Super Bowl on Peacock?
Super Bowl LVII is being broadcast on Fox and so will not be available through the Peacock streaming service. NBCUniversal does not have broadcasting rights for the event until Super Bowl LX in 2026. However, two wild card and one divisional game of the 2023 NFL Playoffs will be available on Peacock.
What is the best way to stream Super Bowl LVII online?
The best way to stream the Super Bowl depends on your location and budget. If you’re okay with watching it on a phone or tablet, you can go with the $4.99/mo NFL+, which includes all games local to you and the ones nationally telecast. But if you want to watch on a bigger screen, you’ll need another service. We recommend Hulu Live, FuboTV, or one of the other services listed above.
How can I watch Super Bowl on my phone?
If you have a pay TV provider, it probably has an app that you can use to access channels, including the network the Super Bowl is on, and you’ll get all the bells and whistles you pay for. Plus, TV subscribers can use their provider login and password to sign into network websites and apps to watch.
If you don’t have a live TV provider, you can check out the new NFL+ service, which is replacing the NFL Game Pass. For $4.99/mo, you can stream all your local games plus nationally televised ones on your mobile phone or tablet. See our NFL+ review for more info.
Where can I watch the Super Bowl for free?
You can watch Super Bowl LVII for free by setting up a digital antenna. The game will air on Fox, which is available for free in most areas OTA or “over the air”– meaning anyone with an antenna within range can receive the signal and watch free. Antennas are widely available for under $30.
