The 68 Ventures Bowl features the Eastern Michigan Eagles of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and the University of South Alabama Jaguars of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC). This will be their first time playing each other.
Both teams saw the same results this year: 6-6 total and 4-4 in their respective conferences. The Eagles finished third in the West Division and sixth overall. The Jaguars finished the season in fourth place in the West Division and eighth overall.
The Eagles are led by head coach Chris Creighton who is in his tenth season with the team. Supporting him are new offensive coordinator Mike Piatkowski and defensive coordinator Ben Needham.

The defense consists of linebackers Joe Sparacio, Chase Kline, and Justin Jefferson, defensive backs Daiquan White, Kempton Shine, and Bennett Walker, and linemen Peyton Price, Mikah Coleman, Joey Zelinsky, and Tim Grant-Randall.
Kane Wommack is in his third year as head coach with the Jaguars. His total record is 21-16 and 13-11 in-conference. With him are offensive coordinator Major Applewhite and defensive coordinator Corey Batoon.
Quarterback Carter Bradley leads the Jaguars’ offense with running back La’Damian Webb, wide receivers Caullin Lacy and Jamaal Pritchett, and tight end DJ Thomas-Jones.
On the defense are linebackers Quentin Wilfawn, James Miller, Trey Kiser, and Khalil Jacobs, defensive backs Ricky Fletcher and Jaden Voisin, and linemen Jamie Sheriff, Wy’Kevious Thomas, and Charles Coleman III.
This bowl game (under various names) has a history of crazy scores. The 2001 Mobile, Alabama game (then known as the GMAC Bowl) set the record for all-time highest-scoring bowl game.
The Marshall Thundering Herd came back from losing 8-38 to the East Carolina Pirates, taking the game to double overtime to win 64-61. At the time, it was the greatest scoring comeback in bowl history. Marshall QB Byron Leftwich, who would go on to play in the NFL for Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh, threw for 576 yards in that game.
Then, in 2008, it set another record when Tulsa defeated Bowling Green 63-7, the largest margin of victory ever in a bowl game.
