Virginia Tech Hokies vs Tulane Green Wave

The 2023 Military Bowl will see the Virginia Tech Hokies of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) take on the Tulane Green Wave of the American Athletic Conference (AAC).

The Hokies ended the 2023 season with a 6-6 (5-3 in-conference) record for fifth place in the ACC. This is a substantial improvement on last year’s 3-8 season but certainly not back to their glory takes in the 2000s.

The Green Wave have struggled since entering the AAC in 2014. But the last two years have been great with them winning the Championship game last year. This year, they went 11-2 (8-0 in-conference) but ultimately lost 14-26 in the Championship game.

Virginia Tech Hokies Personnel

Head coach Brent Pry leads the Hokies along with offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen and defensive coordinator Chris Marve. They’ve all been in these positions the last two seasons.

The offense is led by quarterback Kyron Drones. With him are running back Bhayshul Tuten, wide receivers Da’Quan Felton, Jaylin Lane, and Stephen Gosnell, and tight end Dae’Quan Wright.

The defense features linebackers Keli Lawson and Alan Tisdale, defensive backs Dorian Strong, Derrick Canteen, Jaylen Jones, Dante Lovett, and Jalen Stroman, and linemen Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Pheldarius Payne, Cole Nelson, and Norell Pollard.

Tulane Green Wave Personnel

Longtime head coach Willie Fritz just left for the University of House so offensive coordinator Slade Nagle will be in charge for the Military Bowl. With him is defensive coordinator Shiel Wood.

Quarterback Michael Pratt leads the offensive with running back Makhi Hughes, wide receivers Chris Brazzell II, Lawrence Keys III, Jha’Quan Jackson, and Yulkeith Brown, and tight ends Alex Bauman and Chris Carter.

On defense are linebackers Jesus Machado, Tyler Grubbs, and Jared Small, defensive ends Kam Pedescleaux, Jarius Monroe, Lance Robinson, AJ Hampton Jr, DJ Douglas, and Daruis Swanson, and linemen Devean Deal, Lance Robinson, Patrick Jenkins, Keith Cooper Jr, Darius Hodges, and Kameron Hamilton.
