About Thursday Night Football
Depending on how you look at it, Thursday Night Football began back in 1978, when it was an occasional extension of Monday Night Football. The weekly branded show didn’t start until the November 3, 2006 Thanksgiving game featuring the Denver Broncos at the Kansas City Chiefs.
At the time, this was mainly an effort to transfer part of the weekly viewership to a then-young NFL Network. The channel remained TNF’s primary home until the 2022 season, although it shared games with Amazon Prime and Fox for many weeks.
Starting in 2022, Prime Video became the home of Thursday Night Football. NFL Network went back to a lesser role, airing preseason as well as a smattering of other regular season games like the NFL International Series.
Thursday Night Football Announcers
TNF games feature the iconic announcer Al Michaels, formerly of Sunday Night Football, for play-by-play, and Kirk Herbstreit for color commentary. Kaylee Hartung will be reporting from the sidelines.
Charissa Thompson hosts the pregame and postgame shows. She’s joined by Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tony Gonzales, Richard Sherman, and Andrew Whitworth for analysis.

The Offseason Thursday Night Football game will stream on Amazon Prime each week at (Eastern Time).
The one exception is on Thanksgiving, when three Thursday games will be broadcast by CBS, Fox, and NBC instead. For that week, Thursday Night Football will be on Friday, and it will feature the Miami Dolphins at the New York Jets — also at .

Is Thursday Night Football on network TV?

NFL Network aired four preseason games: Texans at Patriots (Aug 10), Vikings at Seahawks (Aug 10), Browns at Eagles (Aug 17), and Steelers at Falcons (Aug 24).

Unless it features your local team, Thursday Night Football isn’t on any channel at all. Beginning in 2022, Thursday Night Football moved from the NFL Network to Amazon Prime Video.
